Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Southwark to assist with the appointment of an Gardener, on a 6.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay £15.38 - £20.10 per hour

The Gardener role involves operating grounds maintenance equipment, undertaking seasonal duties, and ensuring high standards of environmental presentation are maintained at all times.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain lawns, hedges, shrubs, flower beds, and communal gardens across council estates and public spaces.
  • Carry out grass cutting, strimming, pruning, weeding, planting, and other horticultural tasks.
  • Undertake regular litter picking, waste removal, and general cleansing duties in outdoor areas.
  • Ensure pathways, entrances, communal areas, and open spaces remain clean, safe, and free from hazards.
  • Perform seasonal maintenance activities including leaf clearance, snow removal, gritting, and winter maintenance duties.
  • Identify and report fly-tipping, vandalism, damaged infrastructure, safety hazards, or other environmental concerns.

Essentials

  • Full UK driving licence with the ability to drive a 3.5-tonne van.
  • Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, horticulture, environmental services, or a similar outdoor maintenance role.
  • Ability to operate grounds maintenance machinery and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements relating to outdoor maintenance and public spaces.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
