About the role

Mater Private Hospital Townsville currently has an opportunity for a Gardener to join the team. This part-time role offers a flexible 5-day fortnight schedule with varied days that suit you best.

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the gardens and grounds of Mater Townsville, ensuring they are safe, well-presented and consistently kept in a neat and tidy condition. All tasks are to be completed efficiently and in line with established quality standards, while meeting the needs and expectations of customers.

Salary range: $35.23 - $36.53 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

  • Participate in the planned activities to ensure the presentation of the MHS grounds, gardens, paths and roadways are maintained to a high standard in an efficient manner. This is done through participation in a well-trained and motivated work team.
  • Involvement in planning for and development of improvements to the MHS grounds and gardens.
  • Preparation of seasonal maintenance and renovation programs relating to MHS grounds and gardens.
  • Day to day delivery of the MHS grounds and gardens maintenance programs.
  • Maintaining a motivated, innovative and safe culture within the Gardeners work team.
  • Complete job sheets daily providing accurate details of work performed and any feedback required.
  • To efficiently and effectively undertake grounds and gardens maintenance works as programmed.
  • Participate in the management of all plant, equipment and tools allocated to the work group ensuring routine maintenance is carried out to provide safe and efficient operation.

About you

  • Experience working as a gardener or a similar role
  • An understanding of Occupational, Health, Safety and Welfare Legislation and Regulations pertaining to gardening
  • Demonstrated experience in operating light vehicles and machinery
  • Hold a current “C” Class Motor Driver’s Licence
  • Well-developed time management and organisation skills
  • Demonstrated experience in a team environment

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.
