Job Description
Position Responsibilities:
This position contributes successfully to our operations because you will:
- Approach work with a Continuous Improvement (CI) mindset, and engaging in Model Dairy Mission Statement to identify, value, prioritize, resource, and sustain improvement opportunities.
- Own and promote a Safety Culture by ensuring a safe work environment and promoting proper safety behavior.
- Lead point of contact for truck and tractor problems and concerns.
- Responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of diesel trucks, tractors, refrigeration units, and trailers.
- Oversees and performs 90-day A and B PM services as per DOT guidelines
- Oversees and performs necessary repairs on all systems on diesel trucks, tractors, refrigeration units, and trailers.
- Oversee and perform service to brake, powertrain, and suspension components.
- Guide mechanics in troubleshooting electrical and pneumatic circuits and systems.
- Oversee and perform service and repair of cold box and lift-gate assemblies.
- Use technical information and publications to repair equipment and systems.
- Work with other technicians and leadership from multiple departments to ensure necessary equipment is safe and ready for use.
- Work with Distribution Supervisor to schedule necessary work.
- Ensure all Garage team members are working safely and following all company safety standards.
- Ensure accuracy of paperwork updated and properly entered upon completion of repairs.
- Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with affected departments.
- Advocate for “1st Shift” or “2nd/3rd Shift” Team Members training needs.
- Set standard and expectations for a high standard of cleanliness in the department.
- Possible night and weekend shifts (Rotating).
- Perform various other duties as assigned by Distribution Supervisor/Manager
- Excellent attendance and punctuality are an essential function of this position.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements (Qualifications and Skills):
- High School Diploma or GED
- Demonstrate organization and accuracy skills; self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple projects/tasks with competing deadlines.
- Must demonstrate the ability to solve problems, accept constructive feedback and show flexibility should priorities and/or deadlines change.
- Excellent verbal and written skills and a high degree of emotional intelligence.
- Must be able to build productive relationships across all levels of an organization.
- Class A Driver’s license
- Refrigeration Unit Level Class Completion
- ASE Medium-Heavy Master Technician
