We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Gaming & Multimedia Teacher to join our Team!

Job Summary:

The Gaming and Multimedia CTE Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering an engaging, project-based Career and Technical Education (CTE) program that prepares students for careers and post secondary opportunities in game development, interactive media, digital design, animation, multimedia production, and related technology fields.

The teacher will foster a hands-on, industry-aligned learning environment where students develop technical, creative, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills through authentic projects. The ideal candidate is passionate about technology and creative media and is adept at connecting classroom instruction to real-world applications, industry standards, and career pathways.

Qualifications:

1. Must have a valid State of Michigan Teaching Certificate with the appropriate endorsement(s) or CTE authorization
2. Background in gaming, media, technology or related construction fields
3. Demonstrated competency in the subject area assigned
4. Minimum 2 years of successful teaching experience, preferably with high school age students
5. Strong knowledge of shop safety and OSHA standards
6. Ability to work with at-risk youth
7. Ability to recruit and maintain students in program
8. General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
9. Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
10. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
11. Ability to use technology in teaching and learning
12. Enthusiasm for building relationships with all students, faculty and staff
13. Ability to seek industry partnerships to obtain additional learning opportunities for students

Responsibilities:

• Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment
• Design, implement, and deliver a rigorous, project-based curriculum covering game design and development, digital storytelling, graphic design, animation, audio/video production, 3D modeling, interactive media, coding, and emerging technologies.
• Cultivate a hands-on classroom environment focused on problem-solving, collaboration, critical thinking, and technical mastery.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, abilities, and interests of all students.
• Assess student technical skill acquisition, project outcomes, and professional competencies using industry-aligned rubrics and performance-based measures.
• Industry Alignment & Career Readiness
• Connect classroom learning to industry practices, emerging technology trends, and post secondary/career pathways.
• Guide students in building professional portfolios, technical skill sets, and soft skills (communication, teamwork, time management).
• Facilitate opportunities for students to earn industry-recognized certifications and participate in career exploration (e.g., guest speakers, field trips, internships).
• Classroom & Lab Management
• Maintain a safe, collaborative, and professional classroom/lab environment conducive to creative and technical work.
• Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot specialized classroom hardware, software, licenses, and media production equipment.
• Instruct and enforce safe, responsible, and ethical use of technology and digital media assets.
• Student Leadership & Professional Engagement
• Collaborate with colleagues, CTE leadership, school counselors, and parents to support student achievement and program growth.
• Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with evolving multimedia tools, game engines, and instructional technologies.
• Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication, classroom management, and relationship-building skills to mentor high school students and collaborate with industry partners.
