
Under the direction of the Supervising Gaming Agents, the Gaming Agent I reviews the activities of a licensed gaming facility, with a focus on certifying revenue. The individual is responsible for establishing and maintaining professional relationships with the operators and managers of the casinos and maintaining constant communication with Supervisors in their assigned casino. The Gaming Agent I also works closely with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. The Gaming Agent I conducts regulatory investigations and prepares complex, detailed reports.
Gaming Agent – Encore Boston
Shift: Schedule rotates 4 days-on, 2 days-off.
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Observe operations and records of the casino property, including:
oMonitor activities in the count room and cage for the purpose of monitoring revenue and compliance with regulations and applicable laws
oReview and audit casino records, including accounting records for the purpose of identifying deficiencies and inconsistencies in casino internal controls
oObserve the gaming floor for suspicious activity
oReview slot machine activity for inconsistencies in functionality
Track and report on all items reviewed:
oReport any instances of noncompliance and participate in IEB investigations into these matters.
oCooperate with officers assigned to the Gaming Enforcement Unit and other members of law enforcement as needed on investigations into and prosecution of criminal activity.
oWhen necessary, provide testimony in hearings or court proceedings.
Required Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent listening skills and the ability to receive instruction from multiple supervisors.
Strong organizational skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Minimum Experience, Education, and Training:
High school diploma or equivalent and minimum three years working in an office or casino environment; or a bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent of education and experience.
A successful candidate for this position has passed an extensive background check conducted by the Massachusetts State Police. The background check includes a full credit check, CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information), fingerprinting, drug test, reference checks, review of IRS Income Tax Transcripts for the last four years, and a Certificate of Good Standing from the Massachusetts Dept. of Revenue (DOR).
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is responsible for the implementation of the expanded gaming law (Chapter 194 of the Acts of 2011) and regulatory oversight of G.L. chapter 23K (casino gaming), chapter 23N (sports wagering), and chapter 128A (horse racing). Under these laws, the Commission is tasked with establishing a regulatory framework for the solicitation, licensing, taxation, and oversight of a maximum of three casino licenses and one slots parlor only license, the provision of in-person and digital sports wagering, and the live and simulcasting of horse racing in Massachusetts.
