Job Description

Game Engineer - Tech Pod

SYBO is part of the Miniclip family and known for the widely popular game, Subway Surfers - the most downloaded mobile game in the world, with over four and a half billion downloads. Located in the heart of Copenhagen, we aim to create playful moments that inspire our fans to care.

Hundreds of millions of players play Subway Surfers each month, and enjoy smooth gameplay, new features and a concept that’s now worked for over fourteen (Yes, 14!) years - and we’re looking for a talented Game Engineer for our Tech Pod to make sure the game and the technology behind it keeps running.

As a Game Engineer - Tech Pod, you’ll work closely with engineers and other disciplines to develop the systems, integrations, and technical foundations behind Subway Surfers. You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership, contribute to technical decisions, and help us continuously improve the game, its technology, and the way we build it.

Nothing’s worse than playing an unstable game. If unstable gaming annoys you, make you'll take enjoyment in making stable games for others. More below!

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain systems, platform capabilities, and SDK integrations that enable us to deliver new features and content for Subway Surfers using Unity, C#, and native code

  • Collaborate with other Engineers to take technical solutions from concept through implementation and release

  • Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to the long-term health of the Subway Surfers codebase

  • Review code and collaborate with other Engineers to share knowledge and maintain engineering quality

  • Debug and resolve issues across Unity, native platform code, backend integrations, and live systems

  • Integrate Subway Surfers with SYBO's platform and backend services, bringing shared platform capabilities into the game

  • Integrate and maintain third-party SDKs and services across iOS and Android

  • Contribute to improving our CI/CD pipelines, tools, workflows, and development practices, including Jenkins

Life at SYBO

In your first month, you’ll get to know SYBO, Subway Surfers, our technology, and how the team works. You’ll work closely with the Technical Owner and other Engineers in the Tech Pod, familiarize yourself with the codebase, development and release pipelines, platform integrations, and key technical systems, and start making your first contributions.

In your first three months, you’ll be contributing independently to systems and integrations and taking an active role in the team’s development process. You’ll work with both SYBO platform services and third-party SDKs, participate in technical discussions around implementation, system design, and architecture, and become increasingly comfortable working across the Subway Surfers technology stack.

In your first twelve months, you’ll be a trusted and impactful member of the Subway Surfers team, contributing to technical systems and integrations from planning through release. You’ll help shape solutions across the game, platform integrations, and development pipeline that allow us to reliably deliver Subway Surfers to hundreds of millions of players.
