Game Changer Coach

GameChanger is a Student-Powered Substance Misuse Prevention Movement connecting West Virginia students and the educators who care about them with the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation to build school environments which prevent student opioid and other drug use before it starts.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree

3 years of experience within the school community

Demonstrated experience as a student or youth group leader in clubs, churches, or at school

Current Driver's license

Endorsement from school leadership (principal)

Preferred Qualifications:

State-specific prevention specialist licensure or other current professional license (e.g., alcohol and drug counseling, social work, psychology)

Experience in prevention settings and knowledge of the dynamics of substance use disorder and its effect on individuals, families and communities.

History of working on research projects and familiarity with research protocols

Master's degree in education, public health, counseling or related field

Responsibilities

The school's GameChanger Coach will:

Communicate between their school community and GameChanger and/or Prevention and Early Intervention Solutions, part of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation

Serve as the lead adult advisor for their school's GameChanger Peer Leadership group of students

Participate in cross-school professional development trainings

Support the efforts of other GameChanger Coaches across the State

Participate in any and all GameChanger initiatives in their school

Develop and implement data-driven comprehensive prevention planning efforts in their school, in partnership with Prevention and Early Intervention Solutions, part of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation and GameChanger

Participate on project teams as required

Salary: $5,000 Supplemental Contract
