The Dunlop Art Gallery presents, researches and engages a diverse range of visual culture. Reporting to the Curator and Head of Engagement, the Facilitator improves patron access to exhibitions and programs. The position has primary responsibilities to engage patrons and encourage them to be self-directed learners in the Gallery and maintain the safety and security of the Gallery
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Acts as a facilitator to enhance the customer's experience and appreciation of Gallery presentations and exhibits. i.e., suggest reference material, answer enquiries.
2. Supports the Curator and Head of Engagement on exhibition and other related activities held by the Gallery. i.e., meet with the artist, previews for the Gallery, background research.
3. Maintains appropriate patron behavior for the safety and security of the exhibitions.
4. Assists maintenance staff by maintaining tidiness of the Galleries.
5. Records visitor statistics.
6. Opens and closes the Gallery.
7. Carry out other duties essential to the achievement of efficient public service operations as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Grade 12, plus up to two (2) years of post secondary study in the area of Fine Arts.
2. Nine (9) months to 1 year of successful experience in direct customer care activities.
3. Demonstrated ability to work independently.
4. Knowledge of a variety of Artist/Gallery related reference sources.
5. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
