Job Description

He angitūtanga: The opportunity

We are seeking a Gallery Assistant to assist with the day to day running of the gallery, facilitating high-quality exhibitions, events, and programmes with a strong community focus.

A key component of this role is to provide outstanding customer service and to liaise with the general public, community organisations, artists, and contractors. You will be expected to work with the team to coordinate the day-to-day operations of the gallery, support exhibition installations and openings, and deliver engaging public programmes.

This is a permanent, part time role (21.5 hours per week) worked across a Wednesday to Saturday, however additional hours may become available.

To be successful you will have a strong understanding of the visual arts and enjoy working in a gallery environment. You must have experience in exhibition and event delivery. The role also requires experience in a front line position in an arts or cultural facility. Your organisational and administrative skills will impress!

This role calls for a positive outlook, excellent people skills, experience working with a wide range of people and be able to deliver outstanding customer service with a 'can-do' attitude. The ideal candidate has experience in and use of social media and can assist in designing and delivering engaging public programmes.
