Responsibilities

Position Purpose:

The FX Prime Brokerage Operations team supports the end-to-end operational lifecycle of FX transactions, ensuring accurate and controlled processing across trade capture, matching, confirmation, settlement, reconciliation, client onboarding and post-trade activities. As the business is in a build-out phase, the team also contributes to the development of procedures, controls, workflows, reporting and system processes.

Primary duties will include:

FX Trade Lifecycle Management

  • Monitor and support the end-to-end processing of FX transactions across the FX Prime Brokerage lifecycle.
  • Review trade capture and ensure trades are accurately booked into relevant operational systems.
  • Perform trade matching, affirmation and confirmation activities with clients, counterparties and prime brokers.
  • Process and monitor trade amendments, cancellations, corrections, re-bookings, unwinds and other post-trade events.
  • Investigate trade mismatches and exceptions, identify root causes and ensure resolution within agreed cut-off times.
  • Monitor outstanding trades, escalate unresolved items and complete relevant T+0/T+1 and end-of-day controls.

FX Settlement & Cash Operations

  • Monitor FX settlement activity and ensure trades settle accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate settlement instructions and payment details with counterparties, banks and prime brokers.
  • Investigate settlement fails, rejected payments, unmatched instructions and cash or settlement discrepancies.
  • Support FX netting and settlement processes.
  • Monitor operational cut-offs across currencies and global markets and escalate time-sensitive exceptions.
  • Investigate and resolve reconciliation breaks, identify root causes and support preventative action where appropriate.
  • Monitor client and counterparty positions for operational discrepancies.
  • Ensure operational exceptions are documented, tracked and escalated in accordance with procedures.

Client & Internal Stakeholder Support

  • Act as an Operations point of contact for client and internal queries relating to FX trades and settlements.
  • Work closely with Sales, Trading, Client Service, Risk, Credit, Treasury, Finance, Compliance and Technology teams to resolve operational issues.
  • Liaise with prime brokers, liquidity providers, counterparties and settlement banks on trade and settlement matters.
  • Provide timely updates on outstanding trades, breaks, settlement status and operational incidents.
  • Escalate material or client-impacting issues promptly to senior Operations management and relevant control functions.

Operating Model Build-Out

  • Assist in developing and maintaining end-to-end FXPB operating procedures, SOPs, checklists, controls and escalation processes.
  • Help define operational requirements for workflows, reports and system enhancements.
  • Identify manual or inefficient processes and propose automation, workflow optimisation and STP improvements.
  • Support implementation of new clients, counterparties, liquidity providers and settlement relationships.
  • Produce daily operational reports covering trades, exceptions, settlements, cash and outstanding issues.

Qualifications

General Expectations:

  • Develop a strong understanding of FX Prime Brokerage operational processes, products and controls.
  • Ensure operating procedures and process documentation remain accurate and current.
  • Demonstrate ownership of issues from identification through resolution, with timely escalation where required.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability and the control environment.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, clients and external market participants.

Professional Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree, Diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Approximately 2-3 years of experience in FX Operations, Trade Operations, Middle Office, Prime Brokerage, Treasury Operations or a similar financial markets environment.
  • Direct FX experience and knowledge of the end-to-end FX trade lifecycle are strongly preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of Spot FX, FX Forwards, FX Swaps and NDFs; FX Options knowledge is advantageous.
  • Understanding of FX give-up / prime brokerage workflows, trade matching, confirmation, settlement, reconciliation and exception management.
  • Basic understanding of FX margin, credit limits and exposure.
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to work with large datasets; Power Query, SQL, Python or automation exposure is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with high standards of accuracy, diligence and control awareness.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and confidence working across functions and time zones.
