of Role

Supporting the Head of Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) to manage the overall Fraud risks of UOB through both setting the strategic direction and operational execution. Reporting to Head of AFC.

Responsibilities and activities

Strategic leadership

  • Develops an overall strategy for Fraud compliance to ensure Fraud standards and requirements are implemented to a high standard across the UOB Group.

  • Acts as subject matter expert on all Fraud compliance related topics impacting UOB.

Advisory

  • Provides final recommendations for Fraud related escalations from business and support units.

  • Builds strong partnerships with key Line 1 and 2 stakeholders (particularly in private and wholesale banking).

Policies/procedures and training

  • Design and implement the Line 2 framework for Fraud risk.

  • Oversees and owns policies relating to Fraud compliance, supporting business units in the implementation of an effective control frameworks.

  • Defines and owns procedures for the Fraud compliance team to ensure robust processes consistent support to business & support units.

  • Defines strategy and oversee delivery of training on Fraud policy requirements and related initiatives.

  • Maintains and update relevant training materials on Fraud compliance to reflect new risks and regulatory requirements.

Senior Management engagement

  • Review and summarise any Fraud compliance issues/matters that are significant/strategically important to Senior Management and relevant Committees.

  • Oversees metrics and management reporting to relevant Senior Management on Fraud team operations and risk management.

Team and capacity management

  • Monitors capacity and identify skills/knowledge gaps to ensure the team has the required training, skills, experience and capacity.

  • Manage the team(s), including defining individual roles/responsibilities/goals, hiring, promotions, performance reviews etc. Ensures staff concerned are addressed and team members are given career advancement opportunities in order to maintain high morale and limit attrition.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree holder or relevant professional qualification.

  • MBA or Master’s degree in Business, Accounting, Legal or related field preferred

  • 8-10 years of experience in the financial industry with a strong focus on financial crime and exposure to Fraud and/or ABC risks / compliance issues.

  • Strong understanding of banking industry, especially private and wholesale banking products.

  • Strong understanding of regulatory landscape and industry practices relating to Fraud and/or ABC risks / compliance issues.

  • Experience writing, owning and operationalising compliance policies in a financial services/banking context.

  • Broad understanding of risk management, compliance and corporate governance issues.

  • Project management skills and familiarity with project management tools.

  • Experience engaging with multiple stakeholders at all levels of seniority, including Senior Management, both in Line 1 business teams and internal control teams.

  • Experience working directly with regulators preferred.
