The HVAC Service Technician plays a critical role in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining HVAC systems while delivering superior customer experiences. This position focuses on fixing and repairing systems (not just selling new units), maximizing efficiency, and presenting solutions that promote system performance, energy efficiency, and customer peace of mind. Developing long-term customer relationships, client trust and personal customer relationships are a must.
Key Responsibilities:
1. System Diagnosis & Repair
• Accurately diagnose mechanical, electrical, and performance issues in residential and light commercial HVAC systems.
• Perform repairs including motors, capacitors, compressors, controls, wiring, and refrigerant adjustments.
• Complete thorough system performance tests to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Follow manufacturer specifications, safety standards, and company repair procedures.
• Assist with installations when needed and perform system startups
• Though we try to minimize it, occasional pre scheduled on call may be required.
2. Customer Communication & Service Experience
• Clearly explain findings, options, and recommendations to customers in a way that builds trust.
• Answer customer questions and educate them on system maintenance and efficiency best practices.
• Deliver a clean, respectful, and professional presence at every home or business.
3. Maintenance & System Optimization
• Perform seasonal tune-ups and safety inspections.
• Identify and address potential issues before breakdowns occur.
• Provide system adjustments to improve airflow, efficiency, and comfort
4. Upsell & Opportunity Identification
• Recommend if needed, service agreements, indoor air quality upgrades, and system enhancements.
• Identify potential system replacements if appropriate and pass leads to the sales team.
• Document all recommendations and opportunities clearly in customer notes.
Operational Benchmarks
• Complete 3–6 service/maintenance calls per day with full documentation, ticket closure and debriefs.
• Achieve a first-time fix rate of 90%+.
• Offer maintenance plans on every applicable job.
• Collect payment and signatures and close job on-site when completed.
• Keep company vehicle mechanically maintained, stocked, clean, and inspection-ready daily.
• Debrief real time with dispatch after each job and review job status and review paperwork
• Create a working partnership each day with dispatch and CSR to clear the schedule efficiently and effectively.

Physical Requirements
• Lift and move up to 75 lbs regularly.
• Work in attics, crawl spaces, rooftops, and other tight/hot spaces for extended periods
• Stand, kneel, climb, and crouch for extended periods.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments effectively.
• Drive company vehicles and maintain clean driving record and valid license
• Clean drug free lifestyle, able to pass regular screenings
Minimum Qualifications
• 3+ years of HVAC service experience (residential/light commercial).
• EPA 608 Certification (Type II or Universal) +A2L
• Valid driver’s license and insurable, clean driving record.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and follow manufacturer instructions.
• Experience with digital diagnostic tools and mobile service apps.
Preferred Qualifications
• NATE certification or HVAC trade school graduate.
• Familiarity with service software (e.g., ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro).
• Experience with IAQ solutions, zoning systems, or smart thermostats.
