Job Description

NorthStar Memorial Group is looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented Bilingual Cantonese speaking Funeral Arranger who understands the sensitive nature of funeral services and is committed to supporting families with care and respect to join our team at Skylawn Funeral Home in San Mateo, CA

Responsibilities

  • Arrange and lead funeral and memorial services with professionalism, compassion, and respect for families.
  • Manage all aspects of service planning, including scheduling, locations, transportation, and coordination with vendors such as florists and caterers.
  • Prepare and file required legal documents (death certificates, permits) and work closely with cemeteries to arrange burials.
  • Provide logistical support by driving funeral vehicles and delivering flowers, caskets, urns, and personal keepsakes.
  • Provide evening on-call coverage as part of a rotating schedule to ensure timely response to urgent operational needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to ensure family needs are met with care and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate client records and service documentation.
  • Handle administrative tasks—including data entry, filing, and phone inquiries—with professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Uphold compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing funeral service

Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Speaks fluent Cantonese
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ year of funeral industry experience preferred, but not required. We will train the right person.
  • Previous experience in customer service or hospitality strongly preferred.
  • Warm, professional presence with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications (MS Office, data entry systems).
  • Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute.
  • Strong multitasking skills; able to stay composed in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
  • Confident speaking in front of groups and engaging with diverse communities.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 20 to 50 lbs.
  • Flexible schedule with weekend availability.

Compensation

$26- $29/hr. plus monthly bonus potential
