Job Description

Morningstar is a global leader in mutual fund and ETF data and analysis. Our editorial team produces accessible market news and research through articles, data visualizations, videos, and podcasts, operating as an independent newsroom separate from our research departments.

Our global websites attract millions of readers each month who look to Morningstar for clear insights on markets, investment ideas, and personal finance. In Europe and the UK, we publish in six languages, blending local journalism with translated and adapted content from our global team.

We are seeking a reporter who can create original articles and adapt stories for local audiences. You will have the opportunity to leverage Morningstar’s deep expertise to help investors and advisors navigate performance trends, new fund and ETF launches, and developments in the broader asset‑management industry. Your work will be widely read by both retail audiences and industry professionals.

You will thrive in this role if you can turn complex financial topics into engaging, accessible storytelling and if you bring strong news judgement, data fluency, and an interest in fund and ETF trends that shape the market conversation.

Responsibilities

  • Publish an average of two articles per week, ranging from short commentary to in‑depth features on key mutual fund and ETF trends.

  • Build and maintain a strong network of expert commentators and industry sources.

  • Develop narratives around emerging investing trends, anticipating shifts in flows, performance patterns, strategies, and notable product launches.

  • Regionalize and adapt stories written by colleagues in other bureaus for local‑language publication.

  • Review and edit translated content to ensure quality, accuracy, and alignment with Morningstar’s editorial standards.

Qualifications

  • Passion for writing about investing and financial markets.

  • 3+ years of journalism experience covering markets or investing, ideally with exposure to asset managers and funds.

  • Strong news judgement and an eye for timely, relevant story ideas.

  • Demonstrated writing skills capable of engaging both retail and professional audiences.

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and deliver same‑day turnaround when needed.

  • Curious, creative thinker with a collaborative, team‑oriented approach.

  • Comfortable using Excel and open to learning new databases or analytical tools.

  • Business fluency in French, Dutch, German, Italian, Swedish or Spanishis a plus.
