Fund Accounting Lead

We're now looking for an experienced Fund Accounting Lead to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a senior fund accounting professional who is eager to take full ownership of the accounting function for a dedicated client while becoming a trusted accounting advisor and subject matter expert within Embankment Sweden.

About the Role

As a Fund Accounting Lead, you will be closely embedded with your dedicated client, working on-site approximately three days per week. You will take full responsibility for the client's accounting operations, financial reporting, and fund accounting processes, while building strong relationships and gaining a deep understanding of their fund structures, investment strategies, and business needs.

You will lead the delivery of high-quality fund accounting throughout the full fund lifecycle, including NAV calculations, capital calls, distributions, reconciliations, investor reporting, and financial statements. You will also play a key role in managing complex allocation rules and ownership structures, ensuring accurate accounting for funds with multiple shareholders and investors.

Beyond your client responsibility, you will act as a senior accounting advisor for the wider Embankment Sweden team. You will support colleagues with complex accounting matters, share your expertise, and contribute to the continued development of Embankment’s fund accounting capabilities.

A key part of this role is to help shape the future of fund accounting at Embankment. You will actively encourage and drive the adoption of AI, automation, and automated controls across our ways of working. By identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve quality, and enhance scalability, you will play an important role in developing smarter and more efficient fund accounting solutions.

Main Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the accounting function and financial reporting for a dedicated client.

• Act as a trusted accounting advisor and key point of contact for client stakeholders.

• Work closely with the client on-site approximately three days per week, building strong relationships and understanding their business, fund structures, and accounting requirements.

• Provide accounting guidance and support to the wider Embankment Sweden team as a subject matter expert.

• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, reconciliations, month-end and year-end closing, and preparation of annual financial statements.

• Oversee fund accounting activities, including NAV calculations, capital calls (drawdowns), distributions, and equalisation.

• Understand and manage complex allocation rules and ownership structures, including scenarios involving multiple shareholders and investors.

Identify and implement opportunities to improve processes through automation, AI-powered tools, and digital solutions.

About You

You are an experienced fund accounting professional with a strong background in fund accounting and financial reporting, ideally within alternative investment funds. You have extensive accounting experience and a deep understanding of the full fund accounting lifecycle.

You take ownership, are confident working independently, and enjoy being the trusted expert both for clients and colleagues. You are detail-oriented and quality-driven, with a strong ability to analyse complex accounting matters and communicate solutions clearly.

You Bring

As a Fund Accounting Lead at Embankment, you will play a central role in delivering high-quality fund accounting services to leading alternative investment managers. You will combine hands-on accounting expertise with ownership of client delivery and internal advisory responsibilities.

You will have end-to-end responsibility for the accounting function and financial reporting of a dedicated client. Working closely with the client approximately three days per week, you will become their trusted accounting partner and primary point of contact for accounting-related matters.

Internally, you will act as a subject matter expert for Embankment Sweden, supporting colleagues with technical accounting questions and contributing to the continuous improvement of our processes and ways of working.

Your responsibilities will cover the complete fund accounting lifecycle, including bookkeeping, reconciliations, NAV calculations, investor reporting, capital calls, distributions, month-end and year-end closing, and preparation of financial statements.

You Are

• Extensive experience in fund accounting, financial accounting, reconciliations, month-end and year-end closing, and statutory reporting.

• Strong knowledge of alternative investment structures and the fund accounting lifecycle.

• Experience managing accounting for management companies and holding structures.

• The ability to identify discrepancies, analyse their impact, and communicate findings clearly to clients and colleagues.

• Experience working with complex allocation rules and ownership structures.

• A proactive mindset and interest in improving processes through automation, AI-powered tools, and digital solutions.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted, long-term relationships with clients and colleagues.

• Experience with Fortnox, Capego, and Entrilia is considered an advantage.
