Fund Accountant

Description

The Fund Accountant role involves the preparation of accurate portfolio valuations on a timely basis. The role holder is responsible for the accounting of multiple portfolios, maintaining underlying accounting records, and assisting in the production of financial statements.

Job specification

  • Prepare daily, weekly and/or monthly portfolio valuations.
  • Maintain the underlying accounting records for assigned funds.
  • Liaise with fund managers, brokers, and custodians to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile brokerage and custodian accounts to underlying records.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while delivering high-quality service.
  • Assist external auditors and support the audit process.
  • Support senior team members with audit queries.
  • Conduct periodic reviews and identify errors or inconsistencies.

Skills Required:

  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and structured approach to work.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to priorities tasks and meet strict deadlines.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Degree or diploma in Commerce (including Financial Accounting II or equivalent).
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of hedge funds is advantageous.
