By joining Clearstream IT you will be responsible for creating, maintaining and operating the systems that serve more than 2,500 clients world-wide, covering over 300,000 domestic and internationally traded bonds and equities. Clearstream's core business ensures that cash and securities are promptly and effectively delivered between parties, and that clients are always notified of the rights and obligations attached to the securities they keep under our custody.

Area of work:

D7 is the platform of Clearstream that offers innovative services to its customers for the issuance of financial securities such as shares, warrants and funds. In other words – without the Issuance services, there would be nothing to trade on the German financial market, and the supply will get short for the international markets too. The D7 IT Team develops the next-generation software that enables our business colleagues and customers to boost volume and processing efficiency and as a result to increase revenue and decrease operational costs.

As a Functional Analyst you will be responsible for translating the business requirements into the functional and technical requirements. You will cooperate with Business Analysts defining together the functional requirements and with Software Engineers during the technical design and implementation. You will have an active role as well in the acceptance process jointly with the testing team. Over the time it is expected that you combine your functional knowledge with the technical expertise of the software engineering team and will be able to quickly assess feasibility and complexity of different alternatives at the early stages of different projects.

Your responsibilities:

  • Communicate with business owners, business operation people and business analysts from the different departments in order to understand and shape the requirements
  • Understand the potential as well as the limitations of the existing processes, platforms and technologies
  • Capture and document the requirements in detailed and understandable form
  • Provide support to Software Engineers for them to understand and properly implement the requirements as well as for you to understand the technological limitation
  • Participate in the testing as well as in investigations and resolution of production incidents
  • Stay open-minded and understand the broad context of implementing and operating software components in a highly regulated environment

Your profile:

  • University degree in Economics, Finance, IT or similar
  • 5+ years (or 2+ for a junior role) overall professional experience in business/functional analysis or testing
  • Highly analytical mind-set – You are able to actively listen and quickly understand arguments and goals of different people
  • Excellent communication skills – You explain the business/functional topics in a manner understandable to people without the business background. You do not hesitate to ask questions, express your doubts or kindly challenge ideas during discussions. You have no problem to admit and accept mistakes.
  • High degree of self-dependence – You are self-motivated, looking for opportunities to improve things or your own skills constantly. You take responsibility and are motivated to deliver.
  • Team player – You are able to work with people of different backgrounds and personalities; you are happy to help and share your expertise. You appreciate the skills of others and ask for opinion or review easily.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills (German, French, Luxembourgish, or Czech is a plus)

Nice to have:

  • Previous experience in the financial sector
  • Experience with Blockchain technologies and use cases
  • Knowledge of issuance process of securities and settlement
  • Experience with SWIFT ISO15022 and ISO20022
  • Organizational and coordination skills
  • Understanding the advantages and limitations of test automation
  • Ability to motivate and steer people coming from different backgrounds (Dev, Business, Product etc.)
