of Position

The Associate IV Fumigation may perform a variety of significant tasks, which contribute to the overall performance and safety of the pistachio & almond products. This may include performing tasks in multiple areas across different facilities including but not limited to Firebaugh, Kings, and Lost Hills. The Associate IV plays a vital role in their contribution to the overall goals of various departments.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Interpret fumigant labels to determine appropriate application rates based on silo size and product specifications.
  • Perform fumigation procedures in all designated areas under appropriate supervision.
  • Use company-issued tools to form proper seals on silos in preparation for fumigation.
  • Ensure all silo vents are closed prior to applying fumigant to maintain proper containment.
  • Install plastic tarps overall silo entry points prior to the smoke test to ensure airtight conditions for effective fumigation preparation.
  • Lock out silo entry point by securing man doors and blower disconnect switch with zip ties.
  • Monitor and record environmental temperatures to ensure compliance with fumigation requirements and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Assist with preparing and displaying Danger placards with accurate information at required entry points.
  • Complete the fumigation checklist log prior to applying fumigant and report relevant information.
  • Measure and apply fumigants based on area size and product type, using tools such as trays, gloves, and respirator masks.
  • Seal the access point after the fumigant application using plastic trap, adhesive spray, zip ties, and tape to ensure containment of treated area.
  • Update the fumigation tracking board and key performance indicators (KPIs) daily, and report findings to designated personnel.
  • Take gas concentration on fumigated silos using a Drager monitor.
  • Ensure the gas monitor is calibrated and in good working condition in accordance with company safety policies.
  • Remove fumigant residue from silo and trays and transport it to the designated disposal site under the appropriate supervision.
  • Comply with all applicable national and state regulations regarding fumigation and chemical safety.
  • Travel to other plant locations to assist in fumigation when needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned including associate I through IV tasks.

Pay Range: $21.65

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) recommended. 
  • Up to 1 year of related experience recommended.
  • Valid California driver's license (Required).
