Role Type: Fullstack Software Engineer, with strong backend Java capability essential

As a Fullstack Java Developer, you will contribute to the design, development and ongoing evolution of business-critical software delivery.

You will join a global engineering team responsible for platforms that support software change, deployment governance, auditability, operational resilience and delivery transparency. These capabilities are central to meeting compliance obligations, improving usability and supporting predictable delivery across a complex technology environment.

This role requires strong backend engineering experience, particularly with Java and SQL, alongside a willingness and ability to work across the full technology stack. Experience with TypeScript, React or JavaScript is highly desirable, but we are also open to strong backend engineers who are motivated to develop their frontend skills.

The role is based in Pune, India to strengthen APAC time zone coverage, improve support resilience and provide dedicated engineering capacity for a growing portfolio of release, audit and tooling priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, test and deploy high-quality software solutions across backend and frontend components.

• Develop robust, maintainable backend services using Java, with strong focus on performance, reliability and scalability.

• Work with relational databases using SQL, including schema design, query optimisation and data integrity.

• Contribute to frontend development using modern web technologies such as React, TypeScript and JavaScript, where applicable.

• Help reduce delivery backlogs by contributing consistently to prioritised engineering work, including post-incident review enhancements, OKR management improvements and release standardisation initiatives.

• Collaborate closely with global teams across engineering, product, operations and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.

• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, implementation, testing, release and production support.

• Support business-critical platforms used for software change and deployment governance, helping meet compliance, audit and operational obligations.

• Contribute to improvements in usability, automation, maintainability and engineering ways of working.

• Help ensure effective handover, support and operational continuity across regions and time zones.

• Proactively identify risks, dependencies and blockers, and work collaboratively to resolve them.

Requirements

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of software engineering experience, ideally within a complex enterprise technology environment.

• Strong hands-on backend development experience with Java

• Strong experience working with SQL and relational databases.

• Experience designing, building and supporting production-grade applications or services.

• Good understanding of software engineering principles, including clean code, testing, maintainability and secure development practices.

• Experience working with RESTful APIs and service-based architectures.

• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and modern engineering workflows.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a distributed global team.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work through technical complexity.

• Good communication skills, with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Willingness to contribute across the full stack, including frontend development where required.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Experience with TypeScript, React and/or JavaScript

• Experience developing modern user interfaces and improving application usability.

• Experience with microservices-based architectures.

• Experience using containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes

• Experience working in cloud environments, for example GCP, AWS or Azure.

• Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational database technologies.

• Experience supporting platforms used for release management, audit, governance, compliance, dashboards or operational reporting.

• Prior experience in financial services, banking, consulting or another regulated environment.

• Exposure to production support, incident review processes or operational resilience initiatives.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for engineers who are strong backend developers first, with the desire and capability to operate across the full stack.

You may already have hands-on frontend experience with React, TypeScript or JavaScript, or you may be a backend Java engineer who is keen to broaden your skillset into frontend development.

Successful candidates will be comfortable working in a global team, contributing to business-critical platforms, and delivering reliable software in an environment where quality, compliance and operational resilience matter.

You should be able to balance hands-on delivery with collaboration, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement.
