First we built Norway’s leading online grocery store and now, partnered with Mathem in Sweden, we’re on our way to becoming the world’s most effective retail system, delivering to thousands of Scandinavian doorsteps every week.

We’re looking for a Fullstack iOS Developer to join the Shop team at Oda!

As part of the Shop team, you’ll join the people who build everything customers see and interact with: our apps, the web shop, marketing tools, notifications, payment, accounts and more. It’s a big responsibility, and it means we can design and build the customer journey end to end.

In this role, your primary craft will be iOS development. You’ll work hands-on with the Oda iOS app, taking ownership of core shopping experiences such as browsing, search, product pages, cart and checkout.

But we don’t think ownership of a mobile product stops at the edge of the app.

Some of the systems behind our apps exist specifically to support the mobile experience. As part of the mobile team, you’ll be expected to understand those systems, learn how they work and contribute to them when needed. That might mean changing an API contract, adjusting an endpoint or working in an app-specific backend service to get a feature all the way into customers’ hands.

We don’t expect you to arrive as a backend engineer. We do expect curiosity and a willingness to grow beyond the boundaries of the iOS codebase.

The problem you’ll help solve: Imagine a parent on a busy Tuesday evening. A toddler on one arm, tomorrow’s dinner to order with the other. Search must work, the cart must feel trustworthy, and checkout must be calm.

Your job is to make that journey smoother month by month by shipping, measuring and iterating on improvements that make the experience more reliable and intuitive.

What you’ll be doing as an iOS Developer

You’ll take ownership of key parts of the shopping experience in our iOS app and help shape how they evolve.

You’ll work closely with iOS, Android, web and backend engineers as well as designers and product managers to turn ideas and customer problems into real solutions. You’ll also work across the boundary between the app and the services behind it, learning and contributing to the backend components that are part of delivering the mobile experience.

You’ll …

• Build and improve core iOS shopping flows such as browsing, search, product pages, cart and checkout.
• Take features from an idea through implementation, shipping, measurement and iteration.
• Work closely with Android and web engineers so our shopping experiences feel familiar and coherent across platforms.
• Understand the APIs, contracts and backend systems that power the iOS app.
• Learn and contribute to app-specific backend code when that is part of delivering a feature end to end.
• Collaborate directly with designers and product managers to solve customer problems rather than simply implement specifications.
• Help evolve our mobile architecture and engineering practices as the product grows.
• Care about the less-visible details that make an app feel trustworthy: loading states, offline and failure scenarios, performance, accessibility and what happens when things go wrong at the worst possible moment.

What you’ll need to succeed 🌟

We don’t expect you to know everything on day one. But we think you’ll enjoy this role if:

• You have experience building native iOS applications, ideally using Swift and modern iOS technologies.
• You care deeply about building high-quality product experiences, not only implementing screens.
• You’re comfortable working with APIs and interested in understanding what happens beyond the client.
• You’re willing to learn and contribute to backend code that exists to support the mobile product. Previous backend experience is useful, but it isn’t a requirement.
• You like taking ownership of a problem from the customer experience down through the technical layers needed to solve it.
• You care about maintainability, performance, reliability and the small details customers notice.
• You enjoy working in a team where problems are shared rather than thrown over the fence. Designers, mobile engineers, web engineers, backend engineers and PMs all sit at the same table.
• You’re curious, ask questions until things make sense, and prefer clear, maintainable solutions over clever ones.

To thrive in this role, we believe you’ll want to become an expert in our iOS product while also understanding more of the system around it. You don’t need to become a backend specialist, but over time we want our mobile engineers to be able to follow a customer problem across the app/backend boundary and contribute wherever the solution needs to live.
