Senior Full Stack Developer

Location: Mississauga, ON (Onsite)
Industry: Industrial Manufacturing / Industrial IoT

Compensation: $100,000–$125,000 plus RRSP matching, comprehensive benefits, and a collaborative team environment.

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer to help design, build, and scale a cloud-native Industrial IoT platform on AWS. This role combines backend development, modern web applications, and mobile solutions, supporting products that connect industrial devices, data, and customers in real time.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on developer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working across the full software development lifecycle, and contributing to the architecture of scalable, cloud-based systems.

Key Responsibilities

Full Stack Development

• Design, develop, test, and maintain cloud-native applications and services.
• Build scalable backend services using Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Develop responsive web applications using React and modern frontend technologies.
• Contribute to cross-platform mobile applications using React Native and Flutter, with exposure to native iOS and Android development.

Cloud & Platform Engineering

• Design and implement secure RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Develop solutions leveraging AWS services including IoT Core, Lambda, API Gateway, AppSync, DynamoDB, Kinesis, and related technologies.
• Support system architecture, performance optimization, scalability, and security initiatives.
• Participate in system design and technical architecture discussions.

Data & Analytics

• Design and maintain solutions using PostgreSQL, Aurora PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB.
• Build dashboards, reporting tools, and customer-facing applications that provide actionable insights from IoT data.
• Optimize database performance, data models, and application integrations.

Collaboration & Delivery

• Work closely with product managers, designers, QA, and engineering teams to define and deliver business requirements.
• Participate in code reviews and promote software engineering best practices.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for systems, APIs, and development processes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across development, deployment, and operational processes.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of full stack software development experience.
• Experience building and deploying cloud-native applications in AWS environments.

Backend Development

• Strong experience with Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs; GraphQL experience is an asset.
• Experience with AWS serverless technologies including Lambda, API Gateway, AppSync, IoT Core, Kinesis, and EventBridge.

Frontend Development

• Proficiency in React and TypeScript.
• Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Experience with state management, responsive design, and data visualization tools.

Mobile Development

• Experience developing cross-platform applications using React Native and/or Flutter.
• Working knowledge of Swift (iOS) and Java/Kotlin (Android) development is preferred.
• Experience publishing and maintaining mobile applications is considered an asset.

Databases & Cloud Technologies

• Experience with PostgreSQL, Aurora PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB.
• Strong understanding of database design, query optimization, and data modeling.
• Familiarity with AWS infrastructure, IAM, and cloud-native architecture principles.

Tools & Best Practices

• Proficiency with Git, VS Code, Postman, and modern development workflows.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude is an asset.
• AWS certifications are considered an asset.

Design & User Experience

• Experience working with Figma and implementing modern UI/UX designs.
• Understanding of responsive design principles, accessibility standards (WCAG), and mobile design guidelines.
• Ability to build reusable component libraries and maintain consistent user experiences across web and mobile platforms.
