Research Assistant I in the Faculty of Dentistry
We are looking for a Research Assistant I in the Faculty of Dentistry.
The Role
The appointee will manage and coordinate research activities, assist in the delivery of dental treatments, and deliver dental work in the capacity of a locally registered dental hygienist. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Managing and coordinating the research activities;
- Communicating with research patients and assisting in the patient interaction workflows, explaining study timelines, procedures, assisting in obtaining informed consent, guiding participants through visit checklists, and arranging appointments;
- Collecting research data, e.g., administering questionnaires, taking relevant study records, and measurements;
- Entering and managing research data, maintaining Case Report Forms (CRFs), laboratory records, and other relevant research logs;
- Maintaining source documentation and organizing study records;
- Processing, labeling, packaging, and transporting biological or laboratory samples according to study protocols;
- Ensuring all research activities strictly adhere to study protocols, regulatory guidelines, and policies;
- Performing routine system checks, troubleshooting and basic maintenance of equipment, and liaising with vendors on software updates, maintenance and procurement;
- Monitoring the consumable supplies and handling vendor quotations;
- Assisting with Institutional Review Board (IRB) documentation and compliance procedures for research;
- Assisting in the delivery of dental treatments related to periodontology, restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, and implant dentistry;
- Delivering oral self-care advice, patient motivation, supra-gingival instrumentation in the capacity of locally registered dental hygienists upon prescription and supervision of locally registered dentists;
- Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Working outside normal office hours may be required occasionally.
Qualifications and Qualities
- A Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in Dental Hygiene, Nutrition and Dietetics, Clinical Research, Communication or related discipline;
- Registered dental hygienist in Hong Kong;
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and well-organised, with strong interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-based academic environment;
- Proficiency in MS Office applications and scheduling platforms;
- Excellent command of Cantonese and/or Mandarin and written Chinese, proficiency in written and spoken English; and
- Applicants with the following experience will be considered as an advantage:
- Dental assisting;
- Clinical research;
- Dietary assessment; and
- Patient care assistance.
What We Offer
The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
