The Public Spaces Housekeeping Manager is responsible for leading the daily operation of the Public Spaces team to ensure the conference center, event venues, and all guest facing public areas of Saint John's Resort consistently reflect the luxury standards of the resort. This position oversees team performance, quality inspections, staffing, training, and operational execution while maintaining an exceptional environment for guests, clients, and associates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily operations of the Public Spaces team, including scheduling, work assignments, training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Develop staffing schedules that ensure appropriate coverage of conference spaces, meeting rooms, ballrooms, public areas, restrooms, offices, and other guest facing areas based on business demands and event schedules.
  • Conduct routine inspections of all assigned public spaces to ensure cleanliness, presentation, safety, and adherence to Saint John's Resort standards.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of ballrooms, meeting rooms, pre-function spaces, corridors, lobbies, public restrooms, administrative offices, associate areas, fitness facilities, outdoor guest areas, and other common spaces.
  • Coordinate room resets and cleaning between meetings, conferences, weddings, and special events to ensure spaces are prepared on schedule, and presentation standards are maintained
  • Ensure public restrooms are inspected, cleaned, stocked, and maintained throughout the day to provide an exceptional guest experience.
  • Monitor the condition of furnishings, fixtures, flooring, décor, lighting, and finishes throughout public spaces and coordinate repairs with Engineering as needed.
  • Partner closely with Banquets, Conference Services, Engineering, Food and Beverage, and Resort Operations to prioritize cleaning needs and support daily operations and events.
  • Respond promptly to guest and client requests, concerns, and service recovery opportunities with professionalism and urgency.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, training, recognition, and corrective action to associates while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and attention to detail.
  • Monitor departmental productivity, quality standards, and labor efficiency while ensuring service expectations are consistently achieved.
  • Assist the Public Spaces team with cleaning duties as needed, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing, glass cleaning, restroom sanitation, trash removal, and maintaining high touch surfaces.
  • Maintain all cleaning equipment, tools, chemicals, and supplies in accordance with company policies and safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, chemical handling procedures, workplace safety practices, and departmental policies.
  • Utilize two-way radio communication to prioritize work assignments and respond efficiently to operational needs throughout the resort.
  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, scheduling, performance evaluations, and ongoing development of Public Spaces associates.
  • Assist with inventory management and ordering cleaning supplies, equipment, and operational materials.
  • Lead deep cleaning projects, seasonal cleaning initiatives, and preparation for large scale events, VIP functions, and resort wide activities.
  • Maintain flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events based on operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of Saint John's Resort.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of High School education, post-high school education preferred
  • Minimum of three (2) years in Housekeeping management position

  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to exceed expectations of guests and team members
  • Excellent time management skills
