- What will you do?
As a Full-Time Professor of Data Science and Mathematics, you will join one of the leading educational institutions in Latin America, consistently ranked among the best universities in the world and recognized for its academic excellence, educational innovation, and international reach.
With the goal of strengthening the Science area within the School of Engineering and Sciences, this position will support teaching and research in Mathematics and Data Science at the undergraduate and graduate levels. It will strengthen the Science Department's capabilities in Statistics and Optimization and play an important role in the strategy to consolidate the Engineering in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (IDM) programs in particular, as well as engineering programs in general. It will also support other departments, such as Computer Science and Industrial Engineering, through joint projects. In addition, it will strengthen the Educational Innovation area, where the Science Department is a national leader, through current and relevant projects based on Data Science.
In this role, you will contribute to the development of highly competitive students, the strengthening of the academic faculty, and the institutional positioning of Tecnológico de Monterrey nationally and internationally, through academic practices aligned with global standards of quality, impact, and relevance.
- How will you do it?
Your main challenges will be:
- Design and deliver rigorous and challenging learning experiences aligned with international standards of academic excellence.
- Strengthen and update the program in the Data Science and Mathematics area, contributing to its academic differentiation.
- Generate impact through research, external engagement, or relevant academic output.
- Collaborate strategically with faculty members to consolidate the School's institutional positioning.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses at the Estado de México Campus.
- Support the growth of Consulting and Continuing Education in Statistics, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence by attracting external funding at a level comparable to the average reported by the School of Engineering.
- Strengthen the Mexico City region's Mathematical and Physical Modeling research group through work in Statistics, Optimization, Modern Algebra, Topology, and/or Geometry.
- Strengthen the research activities of the Regional Science Department in Mathematics by contributing to the departmental seminar and designing new projects.
- Support the intellectual vitality and professional growth of faculty members in Mathematics, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence through the development of research or outreach projects.
- Provide various types of academic advising and courses to students enrolled in master's and doctoral programs in Engineering and Computer Science.
- Establish agreements with leading universities in the fields of Mathematics and Data Science.
- Participate in national and international forums by presenting work conducted independently and/or by the Mathematical Modeling research group.
- What are we looking for?
- Ph.D. (degree required) in Science with a specialization in Mathematics.
- Research experience in Analysis, Statistics, Optimization, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence.
- Specialization in developing mathematical and/or computational models for analyzing large volumes of physical data (preferred).
- Recent publications or participation in international conferences in the field in recent years (preferred, or equivalent experience).
- Minimum conversational English proficiency level of B2 (required), with the ability to teach courses in English.
