We are seeking a compassionate, friendly, patient, and outgoing person for a full-time position supporting Dan. Dan has lived in his own home in his community of Lincoln for 30 years. Dan doesn’t just want a caregiver. He is looking for a passionate DSP who can build a positive relationship and engage in activities he loves.
Dan is a social person who values staying connected with his family and friends. He absolutely loves the holidays and likes to keep things lively. His interests are a big part of his life, and he would love a caregiver who can share in them: He enjoys old music, collecting records, classic TV, and karaoke! He likes shopping and going on road trips. He has a wonderful sense of humor and appreciates a lighthearted, fun atmosphere. It is also very important to Dan that he have control over his life and home.
The ideal candidate is reliable, enjoys building connections, and shares some of Dan's interests. This candidate will have good listening skills, be curious, but not nosey, and comfortable with silence. Responsibilities will focus on engaging in conversations, maintaining friendships, making community connections, listening to music and watching classic TV. Dan would also like assistance with hobbies like hosting karaoke with friends or planning outings. Dan’s supporter will also help manage and ensure timely administration of medications, help him plan and prepare nutritious meals and snacks and assist with housekeeping duties. Support staff will also provide transportation to appointments, take Dan shopping, or take spontaneous road trips, perhaps to Bull Moose in Bangor.
