American International University (AIU) invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Humanities within the School of Arts and Sciences, with a primary teaching focus in Political Science. We are seeking an educator who is passionate about teaching undergraduates, contributing to a dynamic general education program, and engaging students across multiple content areas within the Humanities.

While Political Science is the priority area for this role, the successful candidate must be prepared to teach courses in at least one additional Humanities discipline, such as History, Ethics, Philosophy, or World Cultures, based on expertise and departmental needs.

This is a teaching-centered position with an expectation of university service and scholarly engagement. Faculty in the School of Arts and Sciences play a key role in shaping the intellectual foundation of all AIU degree programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate Political Science courses (e.g., Introduction to Political Science, Comparative Politics, International Relations)
  
  
• Teach one or more additional courses in the Humanities as needed (e.g., History of the Modern Middle East, Islamic Philosophy, Global Ethics, or World Cultures)
  
  
• Contribute to curriculum development and review within the General Education Program
  
  
• Provide student mentorship and academic advising
  
  
• Participate in departmental and university service
  
  
• Engage in scholarly activities and professional development

Qualifications

Required:
- Ph.D. in Political Science or a closely related field in the Humanities
- Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching
- Ability to teach in more than one Humanities discipline
- Strong English communication skills
- Commitment to working in a culturally diverse academic environment

Preferred:
- Experience teaching in a general education or liberal arts context
- Familiarity with the American model of higher education
- Interest in Middle Eastern political history or global perspectives
