Salary Range: $30.00 - $32.00 Hourly

Major Responsibilities:
- Operate class A tractor according to Federal and State DOT guidelines, including but not limited to pulling single 28’ trailers, 53’ trailers, 48’ trailers, and double 28’ trailers.
- Operate roll-off truck to haul compactor receiving bins and 40-yard bins when necessary.
- Moves trailers; safely drives tractor and trailer, placing and/or exchanging trailers at donations sites and stores and at Headquarters as scheduled or needed.
- Operate Bobtail truck for misc. runs based on business needs.
- Responsible for accurate completion of trip sheets, inspection sheets, manifests, and other related paperwork.
- Secures and handles goods by loading and off-loading materials and preparing load for transport.
- Responsible for safety checks completes daily safety operational checklist prior to leaving terminal.
- Monitors truck conditions and performance during operations and reports all problems immediately.
- Performs minor repairs as needed.
- Responsible for maintaining cleanliness inside and outside of truck.
- Instructs new and learning Class A drivers in operational procedures, as directed and provides supervisor with assessments.
- Performs all duties of a Tractor/Trailer truck driver as scheduled by the Transportation Supervisor.
- Performs other duties as requested.
- Must be available to work weekends.

QualificationsEducation/license required:
- Valid California Class A driver’s license and a good driving record as well as proof of safe vehicle operations required. Medical certificate required.
Experience/knowledge required:
- Minimum 24 months of Class A driving experience
- Minimum 24 months experience driving Tractor/Trailer trucks. Needs to understand and be capable of adjusting trailer brakes (Class A requirement) and check wheel hubs for oil.
- Weekends and Holidays availability
- Knowledge of general arithmetic (adding/subtracting) required.
- Proficiency in the English language
Equipment used:
- Pallet jack, dolly, forklift (certified only), electric walkie stacker
Aptitudes/skills/temperament:
- Ability to coordinate hand-eye-foot movement to safely maneuver/handle equipment and lift/stack donations.
- Ability to understand and speak English, accept directions and follow procedures.
- Ability to receive a series of tasks and carry them out as instructed.
- Ability to maintain flexible work schedule and work extended shifts based on operational needs.
- Ability to perform routine work, adapting to change as it relates to workflow.
- Ability to maintain self-control and work in coordination and with cooperation with co-workers
- Ability to examine items and visually differentiate between them based on quality standards.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from supervisors, leads, and other coworkers.
- Ability to meet and maintain established standards

Emotional effect:
- The job is routine with occasional periods of high activity/demand and some short deadlines which may require some overtime to complete the assignment.
Job Setting:
- Work is performed outside at loading dock, donation sites, stores and donor’s homes. Work is performed inside buildings and inside cabs while driving for brief periods of time.
- The temperature and exposure to elements will fluctuate depending on weather conditions.
- There is exposure to dust and dirt, vehicle fumes and other air borne particles.
- Occasionally drivers must handle household toxic products which are received in donations.
- There is regular exposure to gasoline, diesel fuel and engine oil.
- Work is completed independently but in cooperation with others.
- There is occasional contact with donation station personnel and public.
- The noise volume will vary throughout the day with exposure to both truck engine noise and other traffic noise and general noise at the stores, donation stations and plant.
Equipment Used:
- Material handling equipment (forklift, hand truck, moveable containers/racks) and trucks may be operated in or near work area.
Physical demands:
- Work pace is steady requiring lifting 50lbs maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
- On a regular basis heavier items (51 lbs or more) will be moved either with assistance from another person or by using appropriate material handling equipment.
- Normal or corrected talking, hearing, and seeing abilities are sufficient to perform the required tasks.
- Mobility required walking up and down ramps and climbing in and out of trucks and walking on uneven ground
