About the Client

Our client is a leading data and technology solutions provider serving the Financial Services industry, specializing in data-driven transformation, business optimization, and innovative digital solutions across international markets.

The Senior Engineer will develop and maintain products within the Australian Superannuation sector, requiring strong expertise in Java, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript, along with solid software development experience. Knowledge of the Superannuation domain and basic accounting is an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Building out the Superannuation Acurity platform for APIs, Portals and the Registry back-end system.
• Developing and maintaining software programs in accordance with programming specifications. This includes (but is not limited to):
  Strong Java development skills HTML, CSS/SASS and JavaScript development (React, Aurelia)
• TypeScript experience is preferred
• Experience working with REST/SOAP WebServices
• Database design and performance profiling
• Building performant solutions that factor in platform constraints
• Writing detailed solutions based on basic requirements.
• Liaising with Business Analysts, Development and Quality Assurance team members to clarify technical requirements and implement the required functionality.
• Assisting with troubleshooting and diagnosis of issues and defects within the scope of Acurity functionality.
• Providing client support to address specific client needs
• Operate in dynamic environment across multiple applications
• Participate in reviews of functionality from a technical and security perspective.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of Higher School Education
• IT / Computer Science degree or other tertiary qualification related to development and / or development best practices.
• 5 years minimum working experience as a developer using Java and web related technologies.
• Desirable - Knowledge of the Australian Superannuation domain
  Desirable - Knowledge and development experience using the Apex product set
• Working experience in Java (Spring, JDBC, Tomcat) HTML, CSS/SASS, CSS libraries
• JavaScript (TypeScript experience highly preferable).
• JavaScript libraries (eg React, Aurelia)
• Experience with Accessibility, Responsive design, Source control (e.g. GIT)
• Experience with unit testing and unit testing frameworks
• Practical knowledge of Java based web server technology
• Strong SQL skills including knowledge of Database indexes and performance profiling
• Strong analytical, problem solving skill and high attention to detail
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies as required
• Ability to build solid working relationships with internal staff and clients
• Demonstrate initiative and be proactive
• The ability to work autonomously and be self-motivated to meet deadlines.
• Good time management, organisational and prioritisation skills
• A 'can do' attitude and be able to apply a methodical approach to problem solving
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work within both Agile and waterfall based methodologies.
