We'd love to hear from you 😊 👩‍💻👩🏽‍💻🧑🏿‍💻👨🏻‍💻

📝 Overview

Build What Matters

The Full Stack Engineer is an ownership role responsible for product outcomes end-to-end: from shaping technical approaches and building features through to release, reliability, and production performance.

At Sitemate, engineers combine strong technical craft with product thinking and delivery ownership. You'll work in small, high-trust teams alongside Product Design Managers to define problems, shape solutions, implement clean and scalable systems, and take responsibility for what ships — including how it behaves once live.

Engineering, product, and delivery are not separate handoffs here; they operate as one integrated team. We believe the future of product development in an AI-accelerated world belongs to engineers who can think beyond tickets - they own outcomes and deliver at speed with AI.

Employment:

  • Full-time

  • Based: Sydney, Australia or Melbourne, Australia

  • Remuneration (Including Super): AUD $85,000 - $200,000 pending your experience

About Sitemate

Sitemate builds modern software for construction, infrastructure, and industrial companies - helping teams move faster, work smarter, and deliver with confidence.

Our flagship platform, Dashpivot, transforms manual, paper-based processes into simple, mobile-first digital workflows. Teams use Sitemate every day to capture data in the field, automate reporting, and make better decisions in real time.

Since launching in 2018, we’ve grown from 5 to 150+ people across 18+ countries. We’re backed by Blackbird, Australia and New Zealand’s #1 venture capital firm, and graduated from the Startmate Accelerator. Thousands of companies use Sitemate tools today - with thousands more discovering us each month through strong word-of-mouth and organic growth.

How We Work

  • Transparency at every level: Monthly Allhands meetings share key company metrics, updates, and customer stories. We also spotlight a team member’s “Life Story” each month - it’s one of the ways we stay connected as a global team.

  • Performance-driven growth: Seven of our last ten pay increases were made proactively, based on impact and results.

  • True flexibility: We focus on outcomes, not hours. You’ll have autonomy to manage your time and work where you perform best - with no time monitoring or unnecessary meetings.

  • Collaboration: You’ll work closely with other teams - engineering, product, design, marketing, and customer success - to move fast and deliver meaningful results.

  • Sydney HQ perks - rooftop garden, wellness centre, showers, and cycle storage in Haymarket

  • Melbourne office perks - micro-roasted coffee bar, on-site parking & bike storage, wellness & mothers rooms, opposite Southern Cross station

What We Offer

  • Competitive, performance-based remuneration

  • Equity options - own a piece of what you’re helping to build

  • 20 days of paid annual leave, plus sick, carer’s, and compassionate leave

  • Paid parental leave - 16 weeks for primary carers, 6 weeks for secondary carers (including adoption and stillbirth support)

  • Professional growth budget and a transparent career development framework

  • Laptop and home-office setup budget

  • Flexible work - remote or hybrid, plus the ability to work from anywhere for a few weeks each year

  • Community & connection - weekly team lunches, global offsites, and our signature “Life Story” sessions

What this role looks like at the mid level

You'll join a team attached to one of our products and have real ownership from early on, with the support of experienced engineers around you.

You'll work across frontend, backend, and mobile: TypeScript, React, Node.js, Angular, MongoDB, and AWS. You don't need to know all of these, willingness to learn matters more than what you know today.

🔧 Day-to-Day

  • Build and ship features with guidance from experienced teammates.

  • Work with AI tools daily, with the team's workflow skills for planning, implementation and review.

  • Fix bugs and improve product stability across web and mobile.

  • Investigate and resolve production issues.

  • Grow into more ownership over time, this role expands as you do.

⚡ Challenges

  • Our products seem simple to users but contain a high degree of technical complexity — shared components across multiple products, backend services powering web and mobile clients. There's a lot to learn.

  • Pace: we move quickly, so you'll need to be excited to learn fast.

  • We have a strong culture based on core values and operating principles. You may need to unlearn some habits from previous experience.

✅ Who This Role is For

  • You've built things you're proud of at a startup, in a side project, during a bootcamp, or at university.

  • You're deeply curious about AI-powered development and want to learn agentic engineering in a production environment.

  • You want to understand the customer problem, not just the code.

  • You're energised by learning fast in a supportive, high-tempo environment.

  • You want to be part of building something meaningful — our users build real infrastructure that shapes communities.

🚫 Who This Role is Not For

  • You prefer a slow ramp with months of onboarding before touching production code — here you'll ship early, with support.

  • You're not interested in owning the end-to-end delivery of features.

  • You're not interested in AI-first engineering practices, this is core to how we work, not optional.

🎯 Skills & Tools

Must Have:

  • Solid hands-on experience building and shipping production software

  • Hands on experience with AI-powered developer tools and agentic engineering practices.

  • Product mindset — wants to understand customer problems, not just implement tickets

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of features end-to-end

Nice to Have:

  • TypeScript, React, Node.js, Angular, MongoDB, or AWS experience

  • Mobile development experience

  • Experience working in a fast-paced startup or product environment

Essential Tools:

  • TypeScript / JavaScript

  • React or Angular

  • Node.js

Bonus Tools:

  • MongoDB

  • AWS

  • React Native / mobile

  • We do not use recruitment partners or services, so please save your time and don't reach out

Sitemate

About Sitemate

Sitemate is the #1 front line AI company for the built world.

We turn voice notes, photos, weather, location, and conversations from the front line into structured, compliant records automatically. Field teams describe the work as it happens. Sitemate completes the paperwork. Workers at the front line review and approve every record.

The built world runs on paperwork. Going digital changed the format, not the problem. Someone still has to fill in the form, pulling the people closest to the work away from the job. Sitemate turns that on its head: AI that completes the records as work happens, built for the conditions of the front line.

- Dashpivot: front line systems platform for safety, quality, field reporting, and time and materials. Forms, registers, workflows, actions, and exports combine into any system, configurable without code.

- Storm: Sitemate's AI Data Capture Agent. Captures unstructured field reality through voice, conversations, photos, location, and weather, and turns it into structured records. Workspace, template, and field-level controls let governance teams configure exactly where and how it operates.

- Sitemate Mobile App: free access layer for front line workers. Digital ID, QR-based form access, voice and photo capture. No sign-up or password required.

- Gearbelt: full stack fleet and asset management for tools, equipment, light vehicles, and heavy machinery.

- Flowsite: no-code integration platform with off-the-shelf connectors for Microsoft Power Platform, SharePoint, Power BI, Excel, Xero, QuickBooks, and more.

- Sitemate MCP: exposes Sitemate data to AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Microsoft Copilot through the Model Context Protocol.

The future of the built world will be driven by real-time digital collaboration, with AI handling the documentation that pulls workers away from the job. Our mission is to build the tools that pave the way to that future.
