Job Description

Full Stack Developer (Next.js / React / TypeScript)

Application Deadline: 30 September 2026

Department: IT

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: London

Description

At Mountain Warehouse we understand that technology is core to our success as a business and so we invest heavily in our in-house team. The development department is divided into product-based teams, all using variants on Kanban for project prioritisation and a focus on continuous delivery, mostly with usage of microservices.

We are a collaborative team with a strong culture of code review, occasional usage of pair programming and lots of unit tests. We're keen to write code following best practice and to continuously find ways that we can be even better. The work is a mixture of green-field and legacy projects (much like any other mature organisation) mostly using Next.js, React, TypeScript, C#, MongoDB and SQL Server, with a combination of monolithic and microservices architectures.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a technically strong Next.js Full Stack Developer to join the Web Development team. This role is for somebody with deep commercial experience of Next.js and modern React development who enjoys solving difficult technical problems and understands how modern web applications behave in production, particularly around rendering, caching, performance, application architecture and framework evolution.

Whilst the focus of the role is our Next.js applications, we work across a broader full-stack environment and would expect successful candidates to contribute more widely over time, working with backend services, APIs, integrations and other technologies across our platform.

We would like to meet someone who is

  • 3+ years of commercial software development experience within a full-stack environment.
  • Proven experience building and deploying production applications using React, TypeScript and Next.js (App Router).
  • Strong understanding of modern Next.js architecture, including Server Components, Client Components, routing and data-fetching approaches.
  • Good understanding of rendering, caching and performance considerations in modern Next.js applications.
  • Able to make informed implementation decisions around rendering, caching and server-side behaviour, and diagnose issues in complex web applications.
  • Experience integrating frontend applications with APIs and backend services.
  • Understands the difference between React concerns, Next.js concerns, application concerns and service concerns.
  • Experience with modern Git workflows and collaborative software development practices.
  • Effective communicator who understands project goals and can explain technical decisions clearly.
  • Pragmatic problem solver with a strong desire to create high-quality, tested code.

Whilst deep expertise in Next.js, React and TypeScript is important for this role, you'll also be working within a broader full-stack environment. Let us know what you have experience of; we can train in the rest.

  • C#
  • MongoDB and SQL Server
  • Microservices architecture
  • Docker
  • Kubernetes in Azure
  • Vercel
  • Jenkins / BitBucket Pipelines for CI/CD
  • RabbitMQ / MassTransit
  • Microfrontends
  • Test Driven Development
  • RESTful API design
  • GraphQL APIs
  • Integrations with third-party APIs and SaaS platforms

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Hybrid working, 3 days in London based office & 2 working from home
  • Holiday allowance
  • 50% staff discount & 25% for family and friends
  • Pension scheme
