Job Description

Ko wai mātou – About us

Liquorland is a nationally recognised retail brand with more than 170 stores serving communities across Aotearoa.

We combine the strength of a national brand with the entrepreneurial spirit of local franchise owners.

As consumer expectations evolve and the retail landscape continues to change, we're focused on delivering great customer experiences, growing franchisee success, and strengthening our position as New Zealand's most trusted and responsible liquor retailer.

Te Tūranga – About the role

We're looking for a Full Stack Developer to join our IT team and play a key role in shaping Liquorland's digital future.

Working across both front-end and back-end development, you'll design, build and maintain modern web applications that support our customers, stores and support office teams. You'll work across our growing digital ecosystem, collaborating closely with Business Analysts, testers, stakeholders and technology partners to deliver scalable, secure and high-performing solutions.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, thrives on solving complex problems, and wants to see the real-world impact of the solutions they build. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to architecture decisions, influence development practices, and help drive innovation across the business.

What skills and experience you need

  • 5+ years' experience as a Full Stack Developer.
  • Strong experience with React and Next.js frameworks.
  • Experience deploying and managing applications on Vercel or similar platforms.
  • Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
  • Proficient in using AI tools to support development, testing, troubleshooting, and productivity.
  • Exposure to Azure services, particularly Logic Apps or integration platforms.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, GitHub workflows and DevOps practices.
  • Understanding of modern web performance and optimisation practices.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid role across front-end and back-end development.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in retail or eCommerce is an advantage.

In this role you'll:

  • Design, develop and maintain modern web applications using React and Next.js.
  • Build and support APIs, integrations and back-end services.
  • Translate business requirements into practical, scalable technical solutions.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes and development automation.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and continuously improve application performance, security and reliability.

Help shape the future of Liquorland's digital platforms and customer experience.

We're interested in your experience, your strengths and your willingness to learn and grow. If you don't meet every requirement but believe you can make a meaningful contribution to our team, we'd still love to hear from you.

In return, you'll join a collaborative and forward-thinking team where your ideas and contributions can make a real impact. We offer a wide range of employee benefits, including hybrid working arrangements, Southern Cross Health Insurance and ongoing development opportunities!
