School of Arts and Sciences Profile

The School of Arts and Sciences at the American International University in Kuwait comprises disciplines in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Physics, Mathematics, English Literature, Humanities, and Education.

The school offers a broad interdisciplinary foundation in the natural sciences, mathematics, humanities, and education, equipping students with critical thinking, analytical, communication, and research skills essential for academic and professional success.

Position Overview:

The Full Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor of Chemistry is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in chemistry, fostering student learning and critical thinking, and contributing to the academic development of the program. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong teaching experience, subject-matter expertise, and a commitment to academic excellence, research, and student success.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach a range of Chemistry courses (mainly Organic Chemistry and Organic chemistry labs)
• Deliver engaging instruction with real-world relevance and active learning
• Supervise laboratory instruction, with emphasis on lab safety, chemical handling, and waste management
• Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and academic advising
• Engage in departmental service and institutional initiatives
• Participate in research or scholarly activities aligned with your area of expertise

Required Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of university-level teaching experience (preferred)
• Strong command of English and effective classroom communication
• Familiarity with tools such as ChemDraw, AMBER, DFTB+, Quantum Espresso is a plus
• Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online environments
• Cultural adaptability and willingness to work with a diverse student population
• Commitment to mentoring, student success, and academic excellence
• Experience supporting English language learners and first-generation students is valued
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
