About the Role

We’re hiring an experienced Petroleum Service Technician with hands-on experience testing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing underground and aboveground storage tank systems (USTs/ASTs).

In this role, you’ll service fuel system equipment at gas stations, marinas, airports, and other facilities while helping clients maintain compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements. We’re looking for someone who can work independently in the field, troubleshoot equipment confidently, and bring established petroleum industry knowledge to the team.

Training & Travel Requirements all company travel expenses covered

  • Initial Training: ~4 weeks in Richardson, TX (25–50% overnight travel)
  • After Training: 50–75% overnight travel, sometimes 2–3 weeks at a time during peak seasons (weekends may be required)

What You’ll Do

  • Complete required training, including 40-hour HAZWOPER
  • Perform compliance tests (spill bucket, vapor recovery, A/B Inspections, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot and repair UST/AST equipment
  • Submit reports and timecards using our digital system
  • Communicate with clients and represent TAIT professionally
  • Work independently and follow all safety protocols

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • 2–4+ years of hands-on experience in petroleum equipment service, UST/AST systems, or a closely related petroleum industry role
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and repairing UST/AST equipment
  • Current or recent ICC UST/AST certification(s)
  • Current or recent Veeder-Root installation, service, or related certification
  • Working knowledge of petroleum equipment, compliance testing, and applicable industry regulations
  • Experience completing technical service reports and compliance documentation
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage field assignments with limited supervision
  • Basic computer proficiency, including email and Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

You’ll Stand Out If You Have

  • Multiple ICC petroleum certifications
  • Additional manufacturer or equipment certifications
  • Experience leading field projects or mentoring technicians
  • Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings, wiring diagrams, or service manuals
  • Strong client communication and customer service skills
  • A proactive approach to troubleshooting and resolving field issues

Physical & Additional Requirements

  • Complete background check, MVR, drug test, and physical
  • Valid driver’s license & clean driving record
  • Able to climb ladders, kneel, lift heavy lids (with assistance), and work on uneven ground
  • Physically fit to travel and work in field conditions
