Job Title: Asset Protection Investigator - Fuel

Location: Remote/ Field Based

The Asset Protection Investigator-Fuel (API-F) supports the execution of Asset Protection programs with a specialized focus on fuel related loss. The role leads the identification, investigation and mitigation of fuel theft across an assigned group of stores.

The API-F combines investigative techniques, data analysis and field partnership to address fuel fraud and Organized Retail Theft (ORC) activity. This position reports under the guidance of the Senior Asset Protection Leader in partnership with the Senior Asset Protection Advisor team while developing advanced expertise in the fuel loss prevention arena.

Principal Duties:

  • Conduct investigations into fuel related losses including payment fraud, POS manipulation and fuel pump manipulation.
  • Analyze POS transactions, fuel system data and CCTV footage to identify patterns and suspects.
  • Build and maintain cases on repeat offenders including documentation for potential prosecution.
  • Partner with law enforcement on fuel theft cases, including evidence preparation and case development.
  • Develop investigative findings into an understandable format for presentation to law enforcement or district attorneys.
  • Communicate with retail partners to identify and share emerging trends involving fuel theft.
  • Track fuel theft trends across assigned stores and identify high risk locations.
  • Provide training and guidance to store teams on fuel theft awareness and prevention.
  • Assist in testing and evaluating new fuel loss prevention tools or techniques.
  • Support broader Asset Protection initiatives as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice, pre-law or related field preferred
  • 3-5 years of retail asset protection/security experience; fuel experience preferred
  • Knowledge of store documents (physical and e-reports) analysis, store surveillance systems and day-to-day store operations
  • Investigative experience including familiarity with ORC investigations.
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Experience in analyzing exception-based reporting (Zebra) data and formulating appropriate actions steps to prevent company losses
  • Experience in coordinating working with law enforcement or case prosecution.
  • Established affiliations with local, state or national professional organizations
