TITLE: FSL Officer (1)
TEAM/PROGRAMME: Nutrition/FSL

LOCATION: Torit FO

GRADE 4

CONTRACT LENGTH: 9 months

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

The role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or' more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE:

The post holder will be responsible for overall community mobilization and engagement, timely planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring and review of the project. The post holder will specifically provide technical support to the project for its successful implementation according to approved donor and government agreements. It will also ensure that the human, material and financial resources of the project well managed in line with SCI financial, grant management and other approved guidelines in close collaboration with the project and other team members. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Develop livelihoods work plan Captured related activities during implementation as per the project documents.
  • Work with the local authorities and target community in setting participatory beneficiary selection criteria and selections of direct beneficiaries for each type of responses„
  • Facilitate technical training on good agronomic practices and Set up demonstration plots for nearing purpose and innovation.
  • Facilitate distribution of agricultural inputs: seeds, tools and livestock & poultry and ensure the beneficiaries receive timely to meet agricultural and Livestock seasons.
  • Facilitate technical training to modern agronomic practices, animal husbandry, disease Prevention, and nutrition utilization and climateClimate-Smart Gardening including processing, preservation, and marketing.
  • Plan, implement, monitor and review the implementation of the livelihood component of the project according to the approved donor and local government agreements.
  • Provide technical support to local authorities and target communities aiming at building their planning and implementation capacity
  • Prepare and maintain records, beneficiary's database, documents and control for the monitoring of projects/ program implementation.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly implementation plans
  • Provide technical support to Nutrition promoters, counsellors, mother & Father Support group, community volunteers, AAP committees and community to ensure that activities are carried out on timely manner.
  • Represents SCI at county and/or Payam(s) levels and participate in local nutrition, and FSL at cluster level and others as required.
  • Prepare action plans jointly with project -staffs and line departments and -other stakeholders for monitoring, review and periodic project reporting.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, intermediate and final reports and submit to the supervisor
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Document and share lessons learnt in a comprehensive and detailed manner to enable track trends on changes on a timely basis
  • Work closely with MEAL officers to ensure accurate and all data are captured related to MIYCN indicators.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree, Diploma or equivalent in agronomy, Agriculture economics, Rural Development, NRM and DRR, food security, and/or emergency livelihood/food security intervention.
  • At least three years of work experience in agriculture sector at least three years in the local or international NGOs or government
  • Experience in implementation of similar project/programs in livelihood-based emergency responses activities in agriculture sector and village level saving and credit activities.
  • Spoken and written fluency in English and computer literacy (MS Office and email/internet);
  • Ability and willingness to frequently travel and stay at the field
  • Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.
  • Understanding of local language and culture is mandatory.
  • Experience in facilitating community based trainings.
  • Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions
  • Strong communications skills, and a good team player.
  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to be respectful, kind, sensitive and empathise with children and their careers.
