Plumbing Draftsman – Job Description

A Plumbing Draftsman is responsible for preparing detailed plumbing and drainage drawings for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. They work closely with engineers, architects, and project managers to develop accurate layouts and ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• 
  Prepare detailed plumbing and drainage shop drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, or other CAD/BIM software.
• 
  Develop water supply, sanitary, stormwater, and firefighting layouts based on engineering designs.
• 
  Coordinate plumbing drawings with architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines to identify and resolve clashes.
• 
  Revise drawings according to engineer comments, client requirements, and site conditions.
• 
  Produce as-built drawings after project completion.
• 
  Ensure all drawings comply with local regulations, industry standards, and project specifications.
• 
  Prepare material take-offs and support quantity estimation when required.
• 
  Maintain organized drawing records and document revisions.
• 
  Assist engineers and project teams with technical drafting support throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 
  Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• 
  Experience as a Plumbing Draftsman in building construction or MEP projects.
• 
  Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit MEP and BIM is an advantage.
• 
  Strong understanding of plumbing systems, drainage systems, and relevant codes and standards.
• 
  Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• 
  Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• 
  Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet project deadlines.
