Structural BIM Modeler – Job Description

A Structural BIM Modeler is responsible for developing accurate and detailed 3D structural models using Building Information Modeling (BIM) software such as Autodesk Revit. The role involves producing structural drawings, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with project specifications, design standards, and BIM execution plans.

Key Responsibilities:

• 
  Develop and maintain detailed 3D structural BIM models for residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
• 
  Prepare structural shop drawings, general arrangement drawings, reinforcement detailing, and fabrication drawings.
• 
  Coordinate structural models with architectural and MEP disciplines to identify and resolve clashes.
• 
  Generate plans, elevations, sections, schedules, and quantity take-offs from BIM models.
• 
  Ensure models comply with project standards, client requirements, and BIM execution plans.
• 
  Update models based on design revisions and engineer comments.
• 
  Participate in BIM coordination meetings and support clash detection using Navisworks or similar software.
• 
  Maintain model accuracy, consistency, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• 
  Collaborate with structural engineers and project teams to deliver projects on schedule.
• 
  Support the implementation of BIM standards, workflows, and quality control procedures.

Required Skills:

• 
  Proficiency in Autodesk Revit (Structure).
• 
  Knowledge of AutoCAD, Navisworks, and BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud is an advantage.
• 
  Strong understanding of structural engineering drawings, concrete and steel detailing.
• 
  Familiarity with international drafting standards and BIM workflows.
• 
  Excellent coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• 
  Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications:

• 
  Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
• 
  2–5+ years of experience in structural BIM modeling (experience requirement may vary by employer).
• 
  Experience with large-scale building or infrastructure projects is preferred.
