MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
A high school diploma or its equivalent.
Florida Statute 447 states that those persons are exempted from collective bargaining who are appointed to inspection positions in federal/state fruit and vegetable inspection service whose conditions of appointment are affected by the following:

Requires possession of a valid Class E driver license.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position has regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of s. 112.313, F.S., and Section 60L-36.003, Florida Career Service Rules and Regulations.
Requires a federal license (FV-200 and/or FV-201) as an inspector in accordance with 7 C.F.R. Part 51 within one year of appointment.
Frequent travel required.
Some alternate work hours and overtime may be required to accomplish inspection duties and responsibilities.

JOB DUTIES:
Determine on an honest and impartial basis the quality, condition and size of fruits, vegetables, nuts, Christmas trees and ornamental flowers. Issue a federal certificate that is precise, accurate and intelligible to all interested parties, outlining in detail, compliance with the various federal marketing agreements. Have knowledge of numerous federal grades of various commodities. Identify the prevalent market diseases, particularly decays, being field, transit or storage in nature. Determine the condition of rail and common carrier equipment in relation to arrival temperatures and breakage claims of receivers and vendors.
Other related duties consist of certifying locally grown commodities from a state level, keeping abreast of changing marketing agreements, federal and state grade amendments, and applying Perishable Agriculture Commodities Act regulations as to misbranding of products.
