Rate: $20.81 (Overtime and weekends may be required)

Shift: 2nd Shift 2 pm - 10:30 pm | Shift Differential $0.40 hour

The fruit grader is responsible for the inspection of fruit, which is enroute from fruit receiving to the extractors. The grader will separate fruit that is split or otherwise substandard for processing and deposit the unacceptable fruit in a separate container. The grader will work with a crew of four to six graders assigned to the same shift. In the absence of this position, a General Labor will perform these job duties or 12-hour coverage by other graders.

Primary Responsibilities

• Food Safety is the responsibility of all Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees All Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees must be aware of CCPs in their area and how to document them appropriately. All staff must report food safety and quality problems to their immediate supervisor in charge during their shift.

• Walk up 3 flights of stairs to workstation.
• Discard all decaying, split fruit or foreign objects.
• Clean extractors, food sizers and grading table as required.
• Collect pulp in appropriate containers as required.
• Follow all safety rules and practices including the wearing of all personal protective equipment.
• Report all Hazard to Supervisor/Manager or enter Industry Safe.
• Follow all food safety and personal hygiene practices.
• Use hose stations to clean specific areas.
• Demonstrate reliable attendance, consistent punctuality and a positive attitude always.
• Act professionally towards customers, vendors or other visitors to the plant.
• Perform other duties as assigned and required.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• The ability to maintain concentration for a minimum of two (2) hours at a time while fruit passes the grading table in heavy volumes.
• One (1) year of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Physical Requirements

• The ability to meet flexible and changing priorities and the ability to work under pressure is a must. 80% standing in place at the grading table sorting fruit.
• 10% of the time sitting at the grading table awaiting the arrival of fruit.
• 10% of the time cleaning the grading table and fruit sizer using a 10lb. hose.
