SCOPE OF ROLE:

As a Frontend Engineer, you will build and own the web experience for Misan by Bamboo — including the customer-facing web app and internal-facing tools — using React and Next.js. You will work closely with the Backend Engineers on API integration and play a key role in shaping how users and internal teams interact with Misan outside the mobile app. You will use your understanding of programming languages and tools to analyze existing codebase, formulate more efficient processes, solve problems and create a fantastic experience for our users. You will bring payments industry expertise to the team, define specifications, participate in weekly team syncs, contribute to roadmaps, and ensure safe and reliable web apps for our users and internal teams. Your role is central to ensuring the Misan web app releases are of the best quality and support our customers.

What you will be doing:

• Build and maintain Misan's web applications using React/Next.js, covering customer-facing flows and internal admin and operations tooling.

• Implement responsive, accessible, high-performance UI for financial flows: onboarding, transfers, virtual card management, and transaction history.

• Integrate with the backend API, working with the Backend Engineers to define clean contracts and handle errors and edge cases gracefully.

• Own frontend architecture decisions: state management, routing, data fetching/caching, and component structure.

• Implement secure handling of sensitive data in the browser, including auth tokens, session management, and input sanitization.

• Build internal tools that give Ops, Support, and Compliance teams visibility into transactions, reconciliation, and user accounts.

• Write automated tests (unit, integration, and/or end-to-end) for the different flows, working with QA on coverage strategy.

• Optimize for performance and Core Web Vitals, particularly given varying network conditions across our markets.

• Collaborate with Design on a clean, trustworthy visual experience consistent with the Misan brand.

• Work with Product Managers for project definition, technical specification, task break-down, delivery, monitoring, and maintenance.

• Utilize AI responsibly and securely to improve the quality and delivery of your work, ensuring any AI-assisted development strictly adheres to Misan's data sovereignty and platform security standards.

Who You Are

• 3+ years of frontend/web engineering experience, with strong hands-on React and Next.js expertise.

• You are comfortable owning a web app end-to-end — architecture and performance, not just implementing designs.

• You have experience building against REST APIs, including handling auth, error states, and real-world edge cases gracefully.

• Fintech, payments, or other data-sensitive product experience is a strong plus.

• You understand basic web security practices, including XSS/CSRF prevention, secure token storage, and input validation.

• You write tests and care about code quality as core to your work.

• You are comfortable being the sole/lead web engineer. You are self-directed, pragmatic, and able to prioritize well with limited resources.

• You are a strong communicator who can work directly with Backend, QA, Mobile, Design, and Product without a lot of hand-holding.

• You take full ownership of your work.

• You are proficient using git and project management tools: Gitlab, Jira, Notion, FigJam, etc.

• You are known for being a creative problem solver with the attitude that there is no problem that cannot be solved, fixed, or mitigated.
