Job Description

Selby | Monday to Friday | Rotating shifts: 6am to 2pm and 2pm to 10pm.

Great teams need great leaders. Ready to make your mark at Selby?

Enjoy helping people do their best work? Have production experience and ideas about how things could run better? This could be your next move.

The opportunity

We’re looking for a Front Line Lead to lead around eight colleagues in our packing hall. You’ll be close to the action, supporting your team, keeping production on track and getting hands on when needed.

Our current Front Line Lead is retiring, so we’re aiming for a handover that gives you time to learn the role and get to know the people.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll:

  • Coach and develop your team, recognise good work and tackle issues when they arise.
  • Keep safety, food quality and hygiene at the heart of every shift.
  • Work with the Head Miller to plan milling and production priorities.
  • Spot opportunities to reduce downtime and improve line performance.
  • Get to the root of problems and help your team put lasting solutions in place.
  • Support other Front Line Leads and step in for the Operations Manager when required.

Why Westmill?

A small site with a real team feel - You’ll join long serving colleagues and newer faces, with different experiences to share and plenty of opportunities to contribute.

A site that keeps moving forward - We’re investing in improvements and new equipment at Selby. Bring your ideas and help us make the most of them.

An opportunity to grow - Build your skills across leadership, production planning and continuous improvement, with opportunities for progression.

And you’ll be part of a bigger food story. Westmill manufactures and supplies authentic global foods and is part of Associated British Foods.

What we offer

  • ABF Pension Scheme membership.
  • A 5% incentive plan and paid overtime.
  • The option to buy additional holiday.
  • Electric vehicle and Cycle to Work salary sacrifice schemes.
  • A confidential, 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Financial education and access to affordable loans.
  • A volunteering day to support your local community.
  • Retail and leisure discounts through Extra Spice from day one.

What you will bring

  • You’ve managed people in a production environment and know how to get a team working well together. You’re comfortable using Microsoft applications, communicate clearly and take a practical approach to solving problems.
  • Coming from another manufacturing sector? We’d like to hear from you. Food production experience is useful, but it isn’t essential.
  • Familiarity with BRC standards, IOSH Managing Safely, Level 2 Food Safety or a forklift truck licence would also be welcome. These are desirable rather than essential, and we’ll provide training on our SCADA system.

Interested?

Apply with your CV and tell us about the teams you’ve led and the difference you’ve made. The process starts with a conversation with HR. If you progress to the onsite stage, you’ll meet the management team and take a tour, giving you a chance to see the site, ask questions and get a feel for working here.

We welcome applications from all backgrounds. Let us know if you need any adjustments during the recruitment process.
