The Front-End Service Clerk is responsible to ensure customer service is provided through maintaining a safe and efficient operation while adhering to Company policies, procedures and standards. The Front-End Service Clerk position reports directly to the Customer Service Supervisor/Front End Manager, and the main responsibilities include;

  • Provides customer service and maintains positive customer relations through the proper handling of questions, comments, requests and complaints. Effectively works in a diverse team environment in a proficient and friendly manner.
  • Handles merchandise ensuring quality, minimizing damages and markdowns. Performs general clean up duties such as cleaning spills and display fixtures to ensure a neat and organized department is maintained. Ensures the sales floor is clean of cardboard and debris, including disposal of garbage.
  • Performs duties following established Occupational Health and Safety, Food Safety and Environmental regulations and policies to ensure the health and safety of all staff and customers.
  • Ensures the proper care, use and maintenance of equipment and tools and reports repair requirements to the Customer Service Supervisor.
  • Performs all aspects of Front End Service Clerk functions including but not limited to: opening and closing duties, setting up storefront, filling supplies, cleaning mats, preparing and assisting in organizing deliveries, providing wrapping carry out service to meet customer satisfaction, proper care and handling of all shopping carts, hand baskets, carryout carts, and replaces existing stock after cleaning.
  • Other duties include; hanging signs from the ceiling or on the walls, and obtaining change for cashiers from customer service.

What skills and abilities will you need to be considered?

  • Grade 9 or acceptable combination of education and experience
  • Must be fluent in English (CLBA - Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment score of 5 or higher)
  • Previous retail or related experience
