Starr Convenient Care is part of Starr Regional Medical Group, serving patients in the Athens community with accessible, patient-focused care. Our team works closely together to create an efficient and welcoming experience for every patient who walks through our doors. As a Front Desk Representative, you'll be an important first point of contact for our patients, partnering with providers and clinical team members to keep the practice running smoothly while delivering the friendly, compassionate service our community expects.

How you’ll contribute

A Front Desk Representative who excels in this role:

  • Provide friendly, professional service to patients, families, visitors, and fellow team members while supporting an efficient front-office experience.
  • Greet patients and manage the check-in and check-out process, including accurately logging patients through the Clockwise system.
  • Obtain and enter required demographic, billing, insurance, and clinical information accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Enter patient demographics and scan required documentation into the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Verify patient demographic and insurance information and update records as needed.
  • Collect patient payments and maintain accurate accounting of the cash drawer throughout the shift.
  • Answer incoming calls and inquiries and route messages from patients, pharmacies, providers, and others to the appropriate clinical team member according to established protocols.
  • Contact patients to follow up on their Convenient Care visit as needed.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and welcoming lobby and registration area.
  • Work collaboratively with providers, clinical staff, and other team members to support a positive patient experience.
  • Complete front-office tasks and data entry accurately and efficiently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of the practice.

What we’re looking for

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, required. Additional requirements include:

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally and courteously with patients, families, providers, and team members.
  • Strong critical-thinking and decision-making skills with the ability to work independently and take appropriate action when needed.
  • Ability to remain organized, accurate, and professional while working in a busy or stressful environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to complete daily tasks and data entry efficiently and accurately.
  • Basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
  • Computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to learn and effectively utilize practice management, electronic medical record (EMR), and Clockwise software.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance processes, and healthcare policies preferred, but not required.
  • Previous healthcare, medical office, registration, receptionist, or customer service experience is preferred but not required.

Schedule: Approximately 32 hours per week. Hours may vary based on practice needs, with a typical schedule of Monday through Thursday, 7:45 a.m.–5:15 p.m., and every other Friday, 7:45 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
