Summary

Job Purpose:

This part-time position provides front-line reception and switchboard coverage for the college’s main lobby. It assists the Office of Marketing and PR with processing promotional materials. This individual serves as an early point of contact for students, visitors, and callers, and supports the office in keeping materials organized and available for events and departmental needs. Hours are scheduled within regular business hours to help maintain continuous lobby and switchboard coverage.

Essential Duties

Lobby and switchboard coverage Greets and directs visitors in the college’s main lobby, answers and routes incoming calls on the main switchboard, and responds to routine questions about programs, events, and college services. In collaboration with staff in the Marketing and PR office, stays current on college information and contact lists to provide accurate information and refer callers and visitors to the appropriate office.

Examples of duties

High school diploma or equivalent, with experience in a reception, customer service, or general office setting. Requires courteous, professional communication; basic computer skills; attention to detail; and the ability to handle routine physical tasks such as lifting and moving boxes of printed materials and promotional items. As the first point of contact for visitors to the college, this position also requires consistent professional appearance and business or branded attire appropriate to a public-facing role.

Schedule

This individual will work 20-25 hours per week, scheduled Monday through Thursday during college business hours.
