Graveyard shift from 12am to 8am on Saturdays & Sundays

BASIC PURPOSE

The Men’s Side Monitor is responsible to the Director of Shelter Services for the security of premises, as well as carrying out administrative/clerical duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist Shelter Director and Shelter Case Managers with overall Shelter Program functions.
  2. Answer and forward all telephone calls.
  3. Greet all visitors, staff, corps members, volunteers and general public in a friendly and professional manner.
  4. Direct all social service clients to appropriate staff person and facility, as well as donations to the ARC.
  5. Maintains guest & staff log.
  6. Maintain Client Confidentiality.
  7. Process clients for Emergency Shelter overnight stay, including entering client information and services provided into WellSky database and intake for guest showers.
  8. Monitoring of Overnight Male clients, including seeking emergency medical attention, waking them up in the morning, supervising client room clean out & dismissing clients to meals.
  9. Help maintain a positive and communal living environment between clients.
  10. Makes hourly rounds of inside of building for security (fire, theft, etc.), including doing a complete walk through of the Men’s dorm rooms during the Graveyard shift.
  11. Washes overnight client laundry and linens from overnight stays.
  12. Secure shelter for duration of evening (locks rear doors, turn out lights, etc.)
  13. Organize and maintain neat and clean copier/fax room; maintain fully stocked paper supply.
  14. Monitors security cameras.
  15. Some custodial duties as necessary and/or required.
  16. Other related duties as assigned by the Shelter Director and/or Corps Officer and/or Corps Assistant Officer.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

  1. Previous shelter work experience preferred.
  2. Previous experience working with diverse population.
  3. Must have ability to empathize, communicate and work with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds.
  4. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and have an open, welcoming and helpful presence and attitude with all people.
  5. Ability to speak and write the English language with professional level skill.
  6. Computer experience and working knowledge of modern office procedures and equipment is required.
  7. Knowledge of Salvation Army practices, policies and organization resources.
  8. Possess ability to work independently as well as in a team environment and be capable of multi-tasking.
  9. Must be punctual, organized, reliable, honest and responsible.
  10. Ability to pass background check.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
  2. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects.
  3. Ability to reach overhead.
  4. Ability to operate telephone.
  5. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. for administrative positions,
  6. Ability to lift up to 50-70 lbs. for positions that require lifting.
  7. Ability to operate a computer.
  8. Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information.
  9. Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, Printer.
