Job Description
Front Desk Insurance Coordinator
As a Front Desk Insurance Coordinator with Schlessinger MD, you’ll play an important role in creating a positive patient experience while helping patients navigate their health insurance coverage. From verifying insurance benefits and explaining patient responsibilities to welcoming patients at check-in, you’ll help ensure each visit runs smoothly from start to finish.
Schlessinger MD and LovelySkin Spa, part of the LovelyGroup, are rated “Best in Omaha” year after year for a reason: our people! As one of the busiest dermatology clinics in Omaha, we keep a brisk pace but never compromise patient experience. If you’re detail-oriented, enjoy helping people, and have a knack for understanding insurance, we’d love to have you join our team!
In this role you will...
- Be an insurance resource for our patients! Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, review coverage details, and help patients understand their insurance responsibilities prior to their appointments.
- Review patient insurance information, identify coverage limitations, and communicate potential out-of-pocket expenses, including copays, deductibles, and coinsurance.
- Obtain and verify insurance cards, update patient demographics, and ensure accurate insurance information is entered into our electronic medical records (EMR) system.
- Coordinate insurance referrals and prior authorizations as needed, working closely with providers, nursing staff, and the billing team to help avoid delays in patient care.
- Assist patients with insurance-related questions and provide guidance in a friendly, professional, and easy-to-understand manner.
- Utilize a multi-line phone system to schedule appointments, take messages, and conduct reminder and confirmation calls while delivering exceptional customer service.
- Check patients in and out of the clinic, collect payments, and ensure patient accounts are accurately updated.
- Prepare superbills for upcoming appointments, scan documents into medical records, and complete other daily administrative tasks.
- Communicate insurance concerns, scheduling issues, and clinic delays to the appropriate team members while keeping patients informed.
- Maintain accurate patient records and assist with electronic file maintenance to ensure information is complete and organized.
- Maintain professional and consistent communication with patients, the billing team, nursing staff, providers, and management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Location: On-site – Omaha, Nebraska
Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt
We are looking for someone with:
- 1–2 years of medical reception or insurance-related experience; previous clinic experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of health insurance terminology, including deductibles, copays, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket expenses.

- Experience scheduling appointments and working within an EMR (Electronic Medical Records) system such as Nextech or Epic.
- Exceptional communication and phone skills, with the ability to explain insurance information in a clear and approachable manner.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A team-focused mentality and willingness to jump in wherever needed to minimize wait times and support the patient experience.
