Front Desk Coordinator
Department: Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid
Supervisor: Assistant Director of Scholarships and Financial Aid
Purpose of the job:
- Management of front counter operations
- Serve as a supervisor and train OSFA work-study students
- Administrator of Texas Application for State Financial Aid
- Assists with TEG form processing
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for student service at the counter in person, via email, and on the
- Administration of the Religious Order Waivers.
- Assist students with financial aid application processes.
- Oversee the operation of services to students at the front counter.
- Verify financial aid applications for completeness and accuracy of the student's enrollment status, academic progress, etc.
- Refer students to the appropriate professional staff member as needed.
- Supervise staff and student assistants working at the front counter.
- Manage the traffic flow of students visiting the office.
- Create, coordinate, and update all financial aid forms annually.
- Keep office supplies and forms at an adequate reserve level.
- Responsible for ensuring equipment is working; requesting service as necessary for copier/printer.
- Counsel students and their families regarding financial aid eligibility, assistance programs available, and their rights and responsibilities associated with those
- Assist with the distribution of information on various financial aid programs available to students; conduct financial aid presentations on campus and in the
Knowledge and skills required:
- Associate's Degree or equivalent work experience.
- Prior financial aid or related university work experience.
- Familiarity with the financial aid application process.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with students, parents, staff, the public, and the University community, demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated analytical abilities to handle complex administrative details with experience working in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and the ability to work well under pressure and with frequent interruptions of work.
Working conditions:
- Significant amounts of personal, phone, and electronic interaction with others.
- When workload demands, individuals will be expected to work the necessary hours to get the job done.
- Physical capabilities for a normal office environment are required.
- Very limited travel.
- Non-smoking environment
