Job Description

POSITION: Fresh Fruits and Vegetables (2 positions)

LOCATION: Marlinton Elementary School

CLASSIFICATION: Service Personnel

REPORTS TO: Director of Child Nutrition

COMPENSATION: Applicable daily rate of pay based on classification and experience.

Compensation is contingent upon actual work performed in support of the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT Up to one and one-half (1.5) hours per week per employee, scheduled before or after the regular work shift, through the end of the 2025-2026 school year, or until grant funds are exhausted, whichever occurs first. Hours, days, and schedules may be adjusted based upon student participation, program needs, and funding availability.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Food Handler's Card required.
  • Must successfully pass the State Competency Test if the applicant has not previously held a position within the classification being posted.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and inventories.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with school staff and students.

ASSIGNMENT: Assist with the implementation and operation of the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ordering, receiving, preparing, and serving fresh fruits and vegetables in accordance with program requirements.
  • Planning menus and activities consistent with Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program guidelines.
  • Maintaining accurate inventory, ordering records, production records, and other required documentation.
  • Receiving and storing food deliveries.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing kitchen, food preparation, serving, and dining areas.
  • Assisting with meal and food distribution as assigned.
  • Ensuring compliance with all federal, state, county, and health department regulations related to food service operations.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager, Child Nutrition Director, Principal, or designee.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff members.
