Fresh Food Retail Specialist

Location: New World Hokitika

Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Hours: Includes evenings and weekends

Pay: $23.95 - $27.00 per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated skills.

We're currently looking for two motivated and enthusiastic Fresh Food Retail Specialists to join our team.

About the Role

As a Fresh Food Retail Specialist, you'll play an important role in creating an outstanding shopping experience for our customers.

This is a diverse position that combines customer service with hands-on work across our Fresh Food departments. You'll spend time serving customers on the checkouts while also supporting our Bakery, Service Deli, Produce and other fresh food departments as required.

You'll help prepare and present fresh products, maintain attractive displays, ensure food safety standards are met, and provide excellent service wherever you're working. No two days are the same, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys variety and being part of a busy retail environment.

This is a full-time position that includes weekend and evening work.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service across all areas of the store.
• Accurately process customer transactions using the checkout system.
• Assist with bakery production and preparation.
• Handle bread, pastries and fresh bakery products with care.
• Package, label and merchandise fresh food products.
• Build and maintain attractive product displays.
• Monitor stock levels and replenish products throughout the day.
• Follow all food safety and hygiene procedures.
• Maintain high cleaning and sanitation standards.
• Support Bakery, Produce, Service Deli and other Fresh Food departments during busy periods.
• Work collaboratively with team members to achieve store goals.
• Help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming shopping environment.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have experience or knowledge in:

• Bakery Production and Preparation
• Pastry and Bread Handling
• Food Safety and Hygiene
• Customer Service and Sales
• Product Packaging and Display
• Inventory Monitoring
• Cash Handling
• Teamwork and Communication
• Time Management
• Cleaning and Sanitation

Previous experience in a supermarket, bakery, café, food manufacturing or retail environment would be an advantage.
