Job Description

If you’re looking to make a difference in your own backyard, this career is for you.

You know that to make a meaningful contribution there needs to be connection and collaboration across the teams. Here’s your opportunity to help our people make a big impact.

In this role, you'll:

Play an important role in shaping the future of the NSW freight network. You’ll contribute to the development and ongoing refinement of long‑term freight strategies that guide planning and investment across the state. Day to day, you’ll be supporting and leading different parts of strategy projects whether that’s drafting strategy documents, delivering analysis, or taking ownership of specific workstreams. You’ll spend time researching emerging trends, analysing strategic challenges and opportunities, and turning insights into clear, meaningful advice that helps inform decision‑making at the highest levels.

A big part of your work will involve bringing people together. You’ll collaborate closely with stakeholders across government, industry, and planning teams to gather insights, test ideas, and ensure strategy development is well‑aligned and practical. You’ll also prepare briefings, presentations, and reports that clearly communicate strategic direction and policy implications. Over time, you’ll have the chance to monitor how freight strategies are performing, recommend improvements, and help ensure they stay responsive to the needs of the network and the priorities of government.

About you

You’re someone who enjoys working with complex information and turning it into something meaningful and actionable. You thrive in a strategic environment and bring a thoughtful, analytical approach to your work. You’re comfortable taking ownership of your projects, leading components of broader strategy work, and managing your deliverables with confidence. Collaboration comes naturally to you, and you appreciate the value of strong relationships whether you’re working with internal teams, industry partners, or senior stakeholders.

What matters most is your ability to learn quickly, ask the right questions, and connect the dots between data, insights, and strategic outcomes. You’re someone who communicates clearly, thinks critically, and cares about contributing to strategies that make a real impact across NSW.
